Skookumchuck Boat Tours

Experience the raw power and beauty of the world-famous Skookumchuck Narrows (Sechelt Rapids). Ride into the heart of the action in the same vessel trusted by the Canadian Coast guard for a truly one-of-a-kind adventure. So much more than a quick trip in and out of the rapids. We go beyond Skookumchuck Narrows to navigate Seal Rock, Hidden Lagoon, East Point Island, and to view ancient Indigenous paintings. Unlike other tours, ours aim to take you where the locals go for a full hour on the water. Not all touring boats are able to safely get this close to ‘The Skook.’ A trip to the Sunshine Coast isn’t complete without visiting Skookumchuck Narrows. Bring the whole family, our tour accommodates ages 5 and up.

Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park

Reviewed By christinern - Vancouver, Canada

This is a pretty popular place for a hike, rapids viewing and relaxing. It is a 1 hour hike/walk one way in the forest (not wheelchair or stroller accessible), fairly flat and wide trail. You pass a beautiful lake, and have 2 choices of viewing areas depending on the direction of the tides. The sign at the beginning of the hike will provide some suggestions. Check online for the best times to go to catch the biggest tides. Once you reach the rapids, there are rocks for sitting on, you can catch kayakers or surfers on the standing waves, it’s a very cool experience to see. Not many places in the world that you can see this natural phenomenon. Another 1 hour walk back out, the rainforest is beautiful. Cherish the memories of the beautiful day you just experienced on the lovely west coast. Parking is free at the provincial park boundary or across the road in the museum parking lot.

An amazing museum in the tiny town of Egmont. It's by donation and has many interesting artifacts. It is located right across from the trail head to go to Skookumchuck Narrows and has washrooms and drinks for sale. Also check out the second hand store at the bottom of the municipal hall while in Egmont - it's also by donation.
