Askur Taproom is a Taproom located in the brewery "Austri Brugghús" in Egilsstaðir. We offer a good variety of local craft beer and beer flights, along with quality coffee and good cocktails. At Askur Taproom you can book a tour around the brewery for groups where you can taste the local beer straight off the tank and get to know the brewing process itself. Guests can come by and enjoy beverages, watch TV or play a game of darts in a friendly atmosphere. We now offer great local pizzas as well! *Free WiFi *Flat screen TV for sports *Beer Pong table *Dartboard
While originally looking for a Café we "accidentally" found the Askur Taproom & Pizzeria. It's a craft brewery with its own pizzeria next / connected to it. The place is really cool: The taproom is directly connected to the brewery with windows and a glass door between, so you can also have a look at the brewery while drinking your beer. When we visited there were 6 beers on tap, from a classic Kölsch up to very creative beers with Wasabi or Earl Grey infused. The beers were great, I loved it! Even better was the staff: We were chatting the whole time with the barkeeper and another local guy about Iceland, Germany, Croatia and of course: Beer! Very friendly and very cool. We loved it! PS: According to my girlfriend the pizza is also great!

Trekked up to see the 128m Hengifoss, the 3rd highest waterfall in Iceland. This unique waterfall has streaks of red clay and black basalt pressed into patterns on the cliff face This provided a colourful backdrop for the cascading water flow. Awesome view and well worth the arduous trek.

Fardagafoss is located close to the road to Seydisfjördur, a few kilometres out of Egilsstadir. There is a hike of about 30 Minutes from the parking area up to the waterfall. On the way you'll have a nice view to Egilsstadir and the lake Lagarfljot.

I was totally mesmerized by the Litlanesfoss Waterfall. It was huge even from afar and the hexagonal volcanic rock columns on either side of the fall highlights the surreal nature of site. What makes this visit even more worthwhile is the fun hike leading up to Litlanesfoss. I found this waterfall much more satisfying to visit than it's taller neighbor Hengifoss which is further up the trail. This was an awe inspiring fall to visit and would recommend the visit trek and visit to anyone.

If you access this canyon from the east side it is a 4km hike through picturesque scenery including a waterfall. It is also much easier to get down to the canyon for the best pictures. The hike leading up to the canyon made it all the more rewarding and a memorable experience.

The road is good all around the lake. A nice campground with a friendly warden is near the south end of the lake on the east side.
