As North America’s northernmost large metropolis, Edmonton is a fascinating study in contrasts — a vibrant urban center in the heart of the wilderness. It’s a city that’s never been afraid to do things a little differently, as visitors discover through close encounters with free-roaming bison, a shopping mall that spans more than 48 city blocks, and a dynamic arts and culture scene that embraces more than 40 annual festivals, including the continent’s biggest and wildest Fringe Theatre Festival.

We provide guided nature tours through the largest urban park in Canada. As we walk 3km through the park you'll learn fun facts about anything from plants, to animals, to fungi, to fossils. After the tour you'll be able to answer questions like: why did Ontario release swarms of parasitic wasps? Why are dandelions the future of rubber? Are squirrels ambidextrous?? And lots more!

A culinary school in downtown Edmonton, Get Cooking is currently offering its classes Virtually because of COVID-19. You can choose from a schedule of Virtual Classes, or get in touch to book a Private or Corporate Virtual Event. Get Cooking's approach to cooking focuses on the use of local ingredients to create globally inspired cuisine while empowering home cooks with new skills and confidence in the kitchen.
Have taken 4 virtual classes since COVID and have enjoyed every single one. The classes are informative, fun and at the end you have a delicious meal, dessert or cocktails. Can’t wait for social distancing to end so I can take in person classes. My husband cooks along with me and it makes for a great date night. Love and highly recommend.

I spent one whole day hiking in the park. I hiked various trails. When I arrived to the park, I stopped by the visitor center. The park staff was friendly and made some good recommendations to me. I saw lots of bisons on Bison Loop Road. I saw lots of beavers and different kind of birds while hiking. I recommend bringing insect repellent. I ran into a lot of mosquitos in some areas of the park. Some trials were very muddy - bring good hiking shoes with you. I preferred traditional hiking trails than the ones in the Astotin Lake Area. The recreation area was crowded, loud, and there was a lot of smoke from grilled food. I had lunch at the Golf Course Cafe. The food was very average

We offer two tours in Edmonton - our Downtown Delights and Strathcona Brunch and Bakeries - mostly in the summer months but year round for private tours. Both experiences are walking tours of neighbourhoods with a storytelling guide to fill you in on the culture of the neighbourhood and introduce you to the vendors and history and art of the neighbourhood. You'll stop at several eateries and enjoy Alberta signature foods and delicious non-alcohol beverage pairings.

Mill Creek has new bridges and updated trails. Very kid and dog friendly. If you have a bike, and if you like to walk, you can make it all the way to the Muttart Conservatory, to the Nort Saskatchewan River or a little further to downtown Edmonton. Great for bird watching as well!

Open May Long weekend to October each year, the streetcar's views of the city and the river are absolutely amazing. This is also the best way to get from the farmer's market to downtown.
We have ridden this street car 3 times. Each time it was a fun event. Saw the beautiful colors in the river valley in the fall. Did a private function when we also did a ride in the early evening. Saw the city lights in early evening. We took out of town visitors for an afternoon ride. Lots of fun. Knowledgeable conductor as well.

SmartyPantz escape rooms are a live-action provider just outside Edmonton's Ice District. Our theatrical themed rooms range in difficulty from moderate to diabolical. You have 45 mins to solve puzzles and riddles related to the theme and story to 'escape the room'. It's a blast!
My group of inexperienced escape room participants had a great time doing the Spies and Lies room. We found the clues kept us all searching and engaged. The hints from the host helped us along without telling us the answer. Everyone said they had a good time. It was a great after work team activity.

The Alberta Railway Museum, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is a heritage outdoor display of railway equipment and buildings. It was constructed with the vision of preserving and interpreting the heritage of Canadian National Railways, Northern Alberta Railways, and short lines and industrial railways from Western Canada. The Museum replicates a small terminal with the original St. Albert station, a water tank from Gibbons and various buildings, locomotives, railway cars and track maintenance equipment. Being recognized as a historical landmark, the museum receives various requests annually for use as a monumental location for various events including weddings, birthdays and various celebrations. The artifacts provide a great stage for photography and videography. We are open seasonally Saturday to Sunday and Holiday Mondays, from Victoria Day to Labour Day from 10 am to 5 pm.
This museum has diesel, steam train, and speeder rides (depending on the weekend, check the website), a huge collection of different types of rail cars with signage giving their history and the history of Canadian railway. Kids of all ages will enjoy this place. It also has a nice little gift shop, picnic tables (they have some snack food there, but no lunch, but if you bring your own lunch it is PERFECT for picnics!), and benches. It's not very stroller-friendly, so if you've got a baby, bring a carrier.
