What an utter delight yesterday’s open garden was! The weather was kind but chilly. The atmosphere was lovely and the gardens stunning as ever. I bought far too many plants and some wrought iron work too. Can’t wait for next year now. Well done everybody!

Visited Sewerby Hall for the day with my Mum and bought the ticket for the house and zoo (gardens free of charge) - well worth it! Gardens were absolutely beautiful, particular the walled gardens which have been looked after so well. Our favourite unexpected part was being able to leave the main grounds of the hall and walk out toward the coast line, with a lovely view of Bridlington. There is also a little land train service which runs into Bridlington and back (great for kids and adults!) so we managed to do that too and walk down by the beach which was an unexpected bonus. The house was really interesting and staff were really knowledgeable, although not huge so took approx. 30 mins to go around. Zoo similarly was fairly small but a nice size, especially for smaller children/those who just want a quick ‘taste’ of a zoo and not a full day’s worth of experience. The proximity to the animals is really impressive compared to a bigger zoo too. All staff around the grounds were really friendly/helpful, and grounds were noticeably very accessible for scooters/wheelchairs. Cafe open for takeaway only, free parking which was easy to find and toilets really clean. Plenty of hand sanitisers all around too. Would definitely recommend!

Pocklington’s unique Gardens have justifiably been called “a jewel in Yorkshire’s crown” and are home to a National Collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lilies which bloom on the Upper and Lower lakes between June and August. The lakes, which contain Carp and Roach that can be hand fed, are set in nine acres of woodland and gardens. There are walkways around both lakes, an ornamental bridge, a Victorian Garden, an Aviary, a newly re-planted Rock Garden, and a Stumpery, the latter being the most recent addition to the Gardens. Events include an annual Tulip Festival, Sunday brass band concerts, and children’s events held throughout the spring and summer. The Stewart Museum houses artefacts which belonged to Major Percy Stewart, an adventurer and traveller, who lived at Burnby Hall between 1901 and 1962, and who made eight world tours between 1906 and 1926. A cafe, gift shop and playground are situated on the site. All facilities are wheelchair and pushchair friendly.
Burnby Hall Gardens this is an amazing gardens they have planted Water Lilies but some have slightly been eaten by the large Koi Carp Fish and you can by a cup of fish food to feed the fish but must be careful there are allot of them, the lake is massive and the gardens are fantastic a new Rock garden that's just great a small aviary which again the children love and a kids play area there is so much to see and weekends there is entertainment. this is one place that's a must. Visitors, Travellers. Walkers and Hikers will enjoy . there is a great Restaurant and Toilets so yes come along and enjoy there are lots of tables for you all to picnic

We did not know of the existence of this nature reserve and only learnt of it by chance when ‘Googling’ walks in Beverley! There is a little parking in the lane. The Parks are a nature reserve which were once part of Old Hall Farm smallholding. There is a circular parkland trail. On the other side of the road is the Millennium Orchard which was planted in partnership with the Women’s Institute in 2000. There is a small car parking area. We were lucky enough to see a young deer as we approached the orchard but unfortunately not quick enough to photograph it! Again there is a circular walk around the orchard which is full of apple and pear trees. There are picnic tables, wood carvings and information boards. There are also bee hives. It is a lush and green area, particularly after the recent rain. We will definitely return on a sunnier day. It was quite wet underfoot.

You can sit and read or just watch the world go by in this little park. It has pretty flowers and lots of benches to sit on. It is peaceful and quiet so you can enjoy the tranquility on your own or with friends in a very pleasant and well kept environment,

Drop in here for a sit in the sun whilst visiting the city centre. Beautiful flower displays by the council too. The knife angel exhibit was very thought provoking.

Oh my word, my Mum and I went to the Old Glasshouse restaurant on Friday for fish and chips. It was simply wonderful. The freshest fish, the most amazing, proper chips, minted peas and their own made tartare sauce. The staff are efficient and very welcoming. What more could we possible ask for? Well, a return visit asap of course.
