What to do and see in East Perth, Western Australia: The Best Things to do

September 15, 2021 Mollie Coke

Perched on the banks of the wide Swan River, between the Indian Ocean and the sands of the Nullarbor Desert, Perth is one of the world's most isolated cities, yet still boasts an active beach scene and smokin’ nightlife. Family-friendly Cottesloe is brimming with swimmers, surfers and snorkelers. Head north to Scarborough for a spirited beachside club scene. Coo at cute marsupials on ferry-accessible Rottnest Island, and don’t miss the views from King's Park and Botanic Gardens.

Bike Hire Perth - Cycle Centre

Reviewed By SamRead21 - Cranleigh, United Kingdom

I have hired a few road bikes in Perth and this was the first time I'd used the Cycle Centre in Hay Street. I was looking for a decent quality road bike and I was not disapppointed with the Canondale 105 Optima. I ride 16,000 km each year and I rode this bike for 5 days. All was good. I took my own pedals and the bike was supplied with a couple of CO2 cannisters and a helmet. The customer service from Ryan and his team was fantastic - all very matter of fact and they could not have been more helpful. I have already emailed Ryan to book another road bike hire for February 2021. Highly recommended for the best value bike hire in Perth.

This is the perfect way to spend a sunny Perth day! From About Bike Hire, there are a number of great rides; around the river, East Perth, Optus Stadium, Kings Park, all of them beautiful. The bikes are in excellent condition - they have somewhere for your water bottle/ keys/ phone, which makes it easy. Sunscreen is also provided at the bike hire shop for forgetful folk such as ourselves! Hint: on a busy day, best phone ahead and reserve your bikes - you can pay over the phone. If you pay for an hour but end up taking them for longer, you just fix up the difference at the end. When we arrived to collect our bikes, there were other groups who hadn't done this and so had to wait. Enjoy! I know we did :)

The rooms are spacious and quiet; the decoration and the linen are impeccable and everything (including the properly equipped bathroom) is perfectly clean. The owner is professional and efficient, courteous and she supervises all treatments in a discreet manner. I have been several times and the staff seem all to have the same high level of training and they seem to be happy with their employer. They wear appropriate uniforms and they have very good english; some also understand or speak other languages including Japanese, Chinese, and some European languages. The treatments are traditional and they do not try to do any of the more eccentric therapies. Deep tissue massage is a specialty and Prices are competitive which I always think should be higher. The salon is recommended by a number of hotels. You should support this salon.

Supreme Court Gardens

Reviewed By UnderaSouthernSky

This is not so much a review as a comment to correct some misinformation I noted from looking at some of the reviews, particularly with respect to the location of the Supreme Court Gardens, and Stirling Gardens. The Supreme Court building sits in the middle of the Supreme Court Gardens (to the South of the Court and riverside) and Stirling Gardens which is to the north of the Court. Stirling Gardens are in fact on the corner of Barrack Street and St George's Terrace (NOT Adelaide Terrace as some say and as appears in the above description. I don't know how that gets corrected). Supreme Court Gardens are bounded by Barrack Street, Riverside Drive and Governors Avenue. Don't go looking for Adelaide Terrace as it is some distance down the road to the east of Barrack Street. If you visit either garden it is just a short walk to the other. Cross Barrack Street and you are in the Elizabeth Quay precinct, and to the south of the gardens is Barrack Square where you will also find the Bell Tower. There are a number of places to eat at Barrack Square and Elizabeth Quay. On a fine day both gardens are worth visiting, and it is nice to just sit a while and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. I love the massive Moreton Bay Fig trees in both gardens. There is an enormous specimen near the Perth City Council building in Stirling Gardens and several other large trees down Barrack Street and behind the Court in the Supreme Court Gardens.
