Great place to take the family in the summer. What’s better than putt putt golf and ice cream!!! Our grandson was staying with us for two weeks so we decided to check out ROC - we had a blast. Finished up the round with a few scoops of ice cream. Fun for everyone!!

The River Trail of Illinois is a bituminous surface trail, that routes from the Riverfront part of Peoria, then - across the Bob Michel Bridge over the Illinois River - to East Peoria. The trail stretches flat along the Levee District and the former IL Terminal Railroad Co path, then it goes to the southeast part of the city, and finally, uphill - to Morton. The River Trail of Illinois was built in 1990-91. The length of the trail is about 5 miles, the trail is perfect for walkers, runners and bikers, it is well marked, although it is not very wide - about 10 ft. The unusual feature of this trail is that it runs through a very industrial, business area of East Peoria, all covered with 'spaghetti-winding' highways, interchanges and exits. However, there are multiple, marked crosswalks/traffic lights along the way, for safety and convenience. In East Peoria, there's a nice access to the trail from the Levee District (behind the Target store) - spacious, free parking is available there, as well. The air temperature of 92 F that day was not exactly suitable for running, but my 'trial test' of about 600 yards proved, that the trail has a good grip and a perfect bounce. The trail is very well-maintained, and in some parts of the trail in East Peoria it is flanked by some lovely landscaping. The beautiful scenic views of the Illinois River, Peoria Riverwalk and the skyline of Peoria Downtown - also make this urban trail very attractive.
