Read the reviews and thought we'd give a go. Didn't book but got a table as it was early. Told straight away that it was ours for 90 minutes. Not an issue for us. Covid check in and staff fully masked up, menu explained and our first cockails ordered. Sit back and watch the magician do his stuff. 2 Tonka bombs dispatched. Superb first round drinks. Wife chatted about her favorite tipple and they were more than pleased to invent a cocktail for her, she even named it ' The Cheeky' Brillant from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone. If you are going late in the evening booking is essential.

The title reflects the current restrictions of covid and Yardbirds have excelled in trying to get live music back on .everyone welcoming and friendly and have been many times but not in strange times .On entry checked in via app then temperature taken and showed to a choice of tables all with screens between for our safety.Drinks ordered by text and all very good prices with many offers available. The solo gig with Jim Kirkpatrick (fm)promoting his solo album was a gem and even limited to just 50 people it sold out ..Well done to Yardbirds for giving us a chance to see live music

Was passing by and stopped for breakfast after seeing the sign, so glad we found this little gem of a place, couldn’t fault anything, from the friendly efficient staff, to the quality and quantity of the breakfast, we had the English breakfast and it was excellent, will definitely be coming back again.

The Chip & Pin is a micropub which specialises in cask conditioned beers served by gravity, directly from the cask. We also sell real ciders, bottled gluten-free beers, Samuel Smith's fruit beers, Fentimens soft drinks, and a small selection of wines; snacks of pork pies and Scotch Eggs are also available. There is no bar, customers are served at their table by staff. Due to licensing restrictions, we operate a strict over 18s only policy, but well behaved dogs are welcome.
This is a nice pub to visit if you like real Ale, cider, wine and soft drinks. They do not serve lager. The drinks are served the way they should be out of the barrel by hand without the aid of gas. There is no bar in this pub, the staff will take your order and your drinks are brought to your table. The choice of drinks and their prices are on boards on the walls. The drinks are served in glasses with a measured line. You get a full measure, not beer with a lot of froth on the top. They also serve a selection of good pork pies and scotch eggs at a very good price. This pub is not open all day and has it’s own daily opening hours and closes at 9.30 pm. This is a nice friendly pub and well worth a visit.

Just been for our second lunch since lockdown and as always the food was fantastic, with great service from the lovely staff. By far our favourite place for a drink and with the added bonus of being dog friendly!

This is a lovely old pub set in a cave, the food is surprisingly delicious and has a lovely range of drinks! I highly recommend visiting this pub if you have the chance, despite the fact it is touristy and can get quite busy.

To say I've visited the Honey Pot Tea Rooms a few times would be a lie....hubby and I virtually live here. Having my own business in the same road doesn't help my waistband either, so you'll often find myself or my clients meandering up the road for a slice of cake and a coffee. But in all seriousness, what a gem in the Derbyshire countryside, Sonja and her lovely team are just superstars, nothing is ever a problem and they always give service with a smile. The standard and size of the breakfasts are amazing and so too are the stunning cakes!! (...omg the cakes) This as good as it gets for a quick bite to eat or just a cuppa with a (huge) slice of cake, you really can't find many places quite so close with such great and authentic service!

Matlock Meadows is a modern purpose built ice cream parlour and coffee shop set within a working dairy farm. The farm has diversified by making italian style hand made ice cream here on the farm using the fresh milk from our dairy herd. The coffee shop serves 15 flavours of ice cream, also sorbet's, ice cream sundaes, a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks, giftware and local produce. We have a small outdoor play area and in the adjacent field and barn we have a micro pig, sheep, chickens, cows and calves. We are a real working dairy farm rather than a major visitor attraction. We do not charge any entrance fees and therefore rely on the income generated from the shop sales to maintain our facilities which include outside play area, free car parking, toilets, and baby changing. The farm has disabled access and facilites and can accommodate educational group/school visits also childrens birthday parties.
We found this place by pure accident, but what a find it was!! I thought we were rocking up just for a bit of ice cream, but there is so much more to it, even with the Coronavirus restrictions in place. First thing to mention. It is free to enter. There's no obligation to buy anything, but if you don't it means you're far too stingy and lack of spending in these places risks losing them. And these kind of places NEED keeping. We headed straight in for a bit of ice cream, despite it being a cold day. We were spoilt for choice with the flavours, but also with how we had it. I elected for an Easter egg sundae, which worked really well with the ice cream served in half a chocolate egg. Much better than a cone!! I bought some food for the animals and headed outside to eat my own food before treating the pig, sheep, goats and bulls. There were plenty of places to sit, but being a kid, I was too excited to stay still. Once we had finished our food, my son and niece went to play on the awesome play park and I went around the friendly animals feeding them. OK, now here's the bit where we need to keep these kind of places: I headed back in to the shop to ask where the cows were, as I had only seen the bulls. I was greeted by the lovely wife of the farmer who offered a really detailed and comprehensive run through of how the farm worked, some of the plans they have for the future (such as a viewing platform for the cows being milked!!) and some of the difficulties dairy farmers face. This was so education, even for a person as old as me. I cannot wait to return when they are fully open as I believe the rest of my family would benefit from some hands-on knowledge of where their milk comes from. On to the only slight negative and even then it isn't the worst thing in the world - parking. There just isn't all that much room and I don't know the area well enough to park off-site and walk through. I wouldn't want to see any of the play areas or paddocks taken away, but I think for these guys to really succeed with their visitors they will need to take a look at it. Don't let that put you off though. Get to see these guys, interact with the animals and enjoy a working farm that is a real gem!
