After you arrive with the ferry from Emden or Eemshaven you mount the waiting train and are taken slowly towards the town. Wooden benches and separate colourful wagons - it gives you a feeling for the culture of the people of Borkum - they keep this alive, welcome outside visitors and you feel well - not in a tourist place. It is safe and the living costs in Borkum are very affordable - even the train is already included in the ferry ticket. It shows the commitment of the locals with their traditions for everybody's benefit.
