Mount Harmon is located on a point of land reaching out into the bay/rivers at the end of a relatively long narrow road through the forest that the original owners could have imagined being at the end of the world. The early owners were associated with the nearby Saint Stephen's Church. Tours of the grand home are available starting in the spring. There are a number of well maintained outbuildings including a kitchen and a smoke house. A classic garden overlooks the river. There are other historic homes nearby from the same era, but are not open to the public, so we are lucky to have Mount Harmon.

Painted Sky provides a unique opportunity to see alpacas up close. Their curious gaze is charming. The give shop contains a myriad of products made with alpaca wool from both the Andes as well as from the alpacas on this farm. There were a wide variety of products in gorgeous colors ranging from socks, caps, gloves, to scarves and more. One could buy alpaca yarn to knit ones own creations. There were even cat toys, alpaca wool mice, a very well received gift by my own cat.

We are a Maryland vineyard and winery who has converted an operating horse farm into a welcoming experience for all. Our farm is now home to chickens, donkeys, sheep, steer, and goats along with our beloved horses. Broken Spoke Winery aims to provide our guests with premium wines made from Maryland grown grapes. Stop by to enjoy a artfully designed tasting flight, and make our home yours as well.
I called ahead since today is Thursday and usually the tasting room operates on weekends. I was actually interested in just purchasing, so was told to stop by. The winery was easy to find because of easily visible signs on the main road. One of the owners met me at the tasting room and showed me some of their award winning bottles. I was also greeted by Oliver the cat, a new "member of the staff" who seemed to feel quite at home in the spacious sunlit tasting room. By buying 6 bottles, I was able to get a discount. Actually it was 7 as I could not resist their port. More wineries are popping up on the eastern shore, and it is important to keep up with such developments.
