We saw this small Dubai Police Museum next to the Police Academy while in our hotel house car while driving back to the Burj Al Arab and I had to stop and check it out. As a retired Law Enforcement Officer from a major Big City in the North East, I had to stop and take a look. Small building with old and historical items. Photos adorn the walls and showing all the Top Police Officials throughout the years with their beloved Sheikh. Old weapons, radios and uniforms are on display. I was told by my personal guide a Police Officer who took the time to open the doors and gave me an exclusive private tour and we made small talk and traded info on their Police Academy and their Policing. Thank you sir!!! I gave him a hand full of Thin Blue Line silicon wrist bands and he was happy!!! Thank you for the tour!!!

What a breath taking place! This is one of those of hidden gems that Dubai, in all its glory, bristles with. Tucked away on an obscure road in Al Quoz, this Aladdin's Cave of beautiful hand crafted things from all 4 corners of the world stuns and delights. Great artisans from Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Burma, Dubai, Morocco, Philippines, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Cambodia, UAE and Vietnam have their artistic creations on resplendent display for your consideration. It is not a museum as such but rather an old curiosity shop of intriguing, regal antiques, rare art objects, trinkets, fabrics, furniture, decorations, household goods, and a mesmerizing plethora of gift ideas. A peaceful and perfect place to shop for gifts rather than buying cheap, tacky tourist souvenirs elsewhere in dusty markets and over zealous vendors. Much of the things are hand made or antiques, so they cannot come cheaply, understandably. I was greeted by a genial South Indian man called Basheer who was gracious and knowledgeable about the origins of the beautiful objects that the place was brimming with. I bought a simple but charming hand made mahogany pen case, which Basheer was kind enough to give me a big concession on. I think this place is delightful and fey and I will be going back regularly to rummage through the glimmering treasure trove to find a bargain and a rare, curious art object.

We really enjoyed this museum! The works and life of the Poet Al Oqaili were interesting, but the workings of the house itself were the best part for us. I highly recommend it as part of wandering around Old Dubai. We got off at the Al Ras metro station, visited this museum, and then visited some souks in the way to the Deira Old Souq Marine Transport Station. That worked very well.
