The owner is a great guy, very nice, knowledgeable and rates are great. He helps my husband with so much and is prompt to get anything we need to be done, done!

Pretty amazing trail out to Marblehead on the UTV. Some parts of the trail were challenging, but it was a blast. Just FYI, very limited cell service out there. Be safe! A must see!

This store has an incredible selection of high quality gifts. From our perspective, the best on the island. Much is locally produced, including stones from their rock shop across the road. We were there in Sept, but were told tours of the rock shop are offered on Tuesdays during the summer. (But check on that first.) The proprietor is very knowledgeable about all aspects of the inventory, especially the jewelry and other items that are puddingstone-derived.Even if you don't buy something, it is fun to stroll the store. Almost forgot...great knives (though expensive) that are more collector items than everyday work knives. But even those are works of art. And, yes, we did buy two items that will become Christmas gifts for family.

This is a well marked trail through a variety of wooded areas. Is not difficult to walk, although there are some areas with rocky terrain (but not much). We visited on a beautiful Sept day and saw everything from trees turning colors to a large variety of fungi on the ground and hugging the trees. I imagine spring and early summer would offer a whole different look. There is no charge and the parking is convenient. Not only are the trails marked, but "You are here" maps are posted throughout to, again, make sure you don't get lost. This place is a delight.

The Maxton Plains is interesting terrain with wildflowers (depending what season you travel there may not be a lot to see just in the Maxton Plains). I was driving through the Plains to go to the Fossil Ledges. The Plains were easy driving but once you get to the trails toward the Fossil Ledges you need 4X4. I saw jeeps and ORVs. We were in a truck but when I go back I will rent an ORV. Stop at the visitor center after you get off the ferry to ask about conditions and any other information about what to do in the area. They are super helpful.
