On the banks of the lovely Elbe River, the German city of Dresden is lush and green, filled with forests and gardens and parks. The city is rich with cultural and artistic history; the great operatic composer Wilhelm Wagner debuted a number of works here in the 1800s and, today, an independent light opera company keeps the classical art form modern and fresh. Culture vultures will love the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and Grünes Gewölbe museums, and architecture buffs will salivate over the mélange of styles reflected in the cityscape.

The imposing statue is worth a visit while in Dresden to the man who changed religions for Christians everywhere. It is ironic to see so many modern and classical musicians pick this spot to be heard. The day we visited a beautiful blonde young lady was belting out a good cover version of Adelle to a large crowd. The last day we passed by it was a lady singing something from Madam Butterfly. A good spot to meet up with friends just say I will see you at Martin Luthers Statue wonderful . A wee tip if taking a photo take it from the left hand side as there is an active building site opposite complete with a large crane which would ruin a historic statue like this marvellous example
