What to do and see in Dresden, Saxony: The Best Day Trips from

November 12, 2021 Milan Banda

On the banks of the lovely Elbe River, the German city of Dresden is lush and green, filled with forests and gardens and parks. The city is rich with cultural and artistic history; the great operatic composer Wilhelm Wagner debuted a number of works here in the 1800s and, today, an independent light opera company keeps the classical art form modern and fresh. Culture vultures will love the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and Grünes Gewölbe museums, and architecture buffs will salivate over the mélange of styles reflected in the cityscape.

I used Thomas Travel and Vadim as my tour guide on a recent trip to Prague. I ended up booking 4 private trips with him around Czech Republic and Eastern Germany. There is so much to see! Cesky Krumlov is a real gem! I really enjoyed Vadim’s personal approach and encyclopaedic knowledge of the history. He also gave me lots of ideas of what little secret places to see in Prague itself. The car was very nice too. If you want to have an experienced and reliable tour guide in that region, look no further.

We went on this tour on Tuesday 25th August. We were picked up by Honza and had the whole tour to ourselves. The trip from start to finish was brilliant. Honza was an excellent tour guide, very friendly and chatty :) The tour itself is breath taking and very much worth the money. This is an experience of a life time and everyone should do it. Highly recommend doing it with Bohemia Adventures as to try and do it solo would be extremely challenging. The lunch was absolutely delicious and the staff in restaurant are very friendly. The restaurant itself is extremley unique and lovely decorated inside. The boat trip was very fun and very different. The tour guide on the boat spoke Czech so Honza kindly translated it and added in his humour. I would highly recommend this company and the trip as it was the best trip we have done in a very long time. Thank you for such a great day with amazing memories and photos!

Hands down just amazing!!! From the moment I booked the communication with the Tour company was outstanding. Peter(the driver) picked me up at the airport and we drove to meet Kevin (the tour guide) at the castle. They both took the time to answer all my questions and explained the rich history of Prague. The tour was truly tailored for me (including the bathroom runs ????). I 100% recommend Kevin and Peter. I was able to see alot in the little time I had available. So if you have limited time this is the way to go. One last thing as a solo female traveler safety is always a concern of mine, I felt safe at all times. P.S. Viator. Peter and Kevin are a power team!

yes this is a must as everyone knows of the significance of the gates. The sight is easy to find and one can walk all around it it, under it and as such you are able to take a million photos for your collection. Note around the back of the embassy is the Jewish memorial which is worth a look whilst you are there.
