For nearly 300 years a lighthouse has stood on Portland Bill to guide vessels heading for Portland and Weymouth and acting as a waymark for vessels navigating in the English Channel. A red sector light warns mariners of the hazardous Shambles Bank lying three miles offshore. Tours of Portland Bill Lighthouse are organised by AMH Support Services under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.
Me and my partner visited last week on a beautiful sunny day, lighthouse was very easy to find, beautiful scenery. Car park nearby was fairly priced, plenty of spaces available. Due to arriving late on the site we were unable to visit the shop underneath the lighthouse although the place was neatly presented from outside. I believe the option to climb up the lighthouse wasn't available due to the current corona virus pandemic. Upon exploring the surrounding area the entire site was litter free and well maintained, pulpit rock was also a very short walk from the lighthouse which was an interesting monument to visit. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and am planning to return with my friends at a later date, definitely recommend!

Paint Your Own Pottery cafe offering a great opportunity to relax in a friendly and helpful environment. Open 5-7 days including late night on Thursdays. Check opening times on our Web site.
We have been to the clay studio several times over the years during our family holiday to Christchurch. The staff have gone out of the way to ensure covid 19 safety they have good procedures in place to ensure families remain safe during their visit. They have a fantastic range of pottery to paint and the staff are all to helpful to help and give hints and tips if required. They have a fnaststic selection of good and drink all of which participate on the eat out to help out. The studio is definitely a must during your holidays as it allows you to take a keepsake home to remind you of your time on holidays.

Grange Gallery is a stunning oasis in the Isle of Purbeck, designed, built and managed by creative duo, Jason Cameron, Bespoke Furniture Maker and Esme James, Contemporary Artist. Their Wooden Barn is in an idyllic, hidden location set back from the road, behind a Red Brick Barn it is a magical space and place where you can enjoy, purchase and commission great art and design, and relax in Café Grange with a cup of high-quality freshly ground coffee. Jason and Esme design and make all their creations onsite in their workshop/studio and exhibit/sell their creations in Grange Gallery alongside work they have selected from over 20 talented local artists and makers from Dorset. They also run workshops including the popular Grange Gallery Paint Nights which are perfect for beginners and an excellent activity for groups... so gather friends, family or work colleagues and book up for a night out with a difference!
We stopped for coffee and a cake on our way back from tyneham village. This is a little treasure. The artwork in the cafe is beautiful and very inspiring (I'm a very amateur potter!) Staff very friendly and talked about the works on show. Lovely coffee and cake. Will certainly be popping by again. Thank you Esme and the rest of the staff.
