La Aurora Cigar factory is a global tour around a Premium cigar factory, from seed to packaging. Our visitors obtained in less than an hour a complete view of the intricate process of making a cigar and about the history of La Aurora, the original cigar factory in Dominican Republic, opened in 1903.
This is my 3rd time at the La Aurora Cigar Factory and on all three occasions, Eugenio has made me feel welcomed and has provided excellent and exceptional customer service. Eugenio Polanco is the reason why i return to this cigar factory each time i come to Santiago. This is the number 1 place to visit if visiting Santiago. Eugenio Polanco has always provided me with a good experience and i will be looking to return for the 4th time in the near future thanks to Eugenio Polanco. Keep up the good work.

A group of interconnected caves near Santo Domingo.
The "Monumento Natural Cueva Los Tres Ojos", also known as "Parque Nacional Los Tres Ojos", is probably the most visited attraction in Santo Domingo! The caves and lagoons were discovered about a hundred years ago and are really breathtaking! A winding staircase leads visitors to a series of limestone caves. An underground river - "La Brujuela - feeds freshwater to three interconnected lagoons, locally called "eyes" for their eye-oval-shapes. The first one, "Lago de Azufre", is famous for its blue waters (due to the presence of calcium minerals in its composition and not due to sulphurous waters, as initially believed), stalactites and stalagmites. Then comes "Lago La Nevera", named after its cold waters. The third "eye", "Lago Las Damas", the shallowest one, was mostly used by women and children. Years later, a fourth lake was discovered, but unlikely the other "eyes", this one is not underground, but open-air and surrounded by a rocky landscape and lush vegetation. It is called "Lago Los Zaramagullones" after some native ducks, and is the deepest one, with beautiful small fishes swimming on its crystal clear waters. Take your time and visit the park, its caves and lakes. You will never regret! Enjoy!

This mountain, which looms high above Puerto Plata, has a cable car ride to the top.
Once you get thru the crazy-town drivers, the park is quiet and inviting. Easy ride up in the cable car, and the views are well worth the trip. Enjoyed the tropical highlands on top of the Mount.

This often crowded beach features white sand and turquoise waters.
Sosua is a wonder beach with warm clear water, awesome snorkeling, and plenty of delicious restaurants. I am writing this more of an encouragement for those traveling to this destination or staying at a resort in Sosua to consider bringing items to donate. Although this country is beautiful there are many living below poverty level. We were made aware of a school for displaced children. An orphanage that houses about 30 children. They survive through donations only. There are times during the year when the kids don’t have enough to each. Jolly Rogers restaurant hosts a Christmas party and provides some support through the year. I would encourage those traveling to the area to bring extra clothing, toiletries (toothbrush toothpaste soaps), shoes and expecially nonperishable food items. I’m sure that Jolly Rogers could get these items to the school. If you have any questions or would like more information feel free to message me.

Altos de Chavon, is an architectural wonder, a 16th century replica of a Mediterranean village perched high above the Chavón River. The village was designed by Dominican architect Jose Antonio Caro, and created by Italian master designer and cinematographer Roberto Coppa. Dominican artisans handcrafted the stone pathways, decorative ironwork, furniture and enchanting buildings, reviving almost forgotten crafts of metal work and stone carving. Under Coppa's direction, each stone was hand cut, each wooden door frame was handcrafted and each wrought-iron detail hand-forged. Construction of the village began in 1976 and the village was inaugurated in 1982 with the concert of Frank Sinatra at the amphitheater. Altos de Chavon was built as a center of culture for the Dominican people.
We visited n 2014 as part of an excursion and I’m so glad we went. The buildings and grounds are amazing to see. The amphitheater looks like something out of an old Roman movie. The fountain is absolutely beautiful. While walking through the grounds all we could smell was the hibiscus trees .. the Chavon river runs along it and we took a riverboat along the River where they filmed Rambo. Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful village

The Cable Car Puerto Plata is located on the Mountain "Isabel de Torres", south of the beautiful city of Puerto Plata. At the top of the mountain, above a fortress is the statue of "Christ the Redeemer" with open arms gives the welcome to visitors. During the visit you will enjoy wonderful views of the ocean and city, as well as beautiful gardens, since the mountain has been declared a Scientific Reserve for the wide variety of animal and plant species that are found in it. And if you keep your eyes peeled, you can discover hidden caves that lead to springs and streams that flow into the mountain! While in Puerto Plata, do not miss the cable car, with its exotic natural beauty and extensive National Park.
Awesome tour, very informative, great city tour with Dan Marino and Roberto, both had a wonderful sense of humor, delightful the entire time. Would certainly recommend this tour as being a must if you are in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

We visited on August 9th 2019. Amazing experience. We only did 12 falls because it didn’t rain enough to do all 27. Our Iguana Mama tour guide Carlos was super friendly and kind and our driver was super safe considering people in DR drive like absolute maniacs. On our way to the tour, Carlos told us about the great history of DR and that was very interesting and funny. During the falls tour, we had another guide with the national park, his name was also Carlos...2, he was also very friendly and fun, explaining us all security measures and guided us through the falls. The falls were absolutely breath taking, after a 45 minutes intense hike up the mountain, we had to jump in or slide into ponds and swim through limestone rocks. The water was crystal clear blue turquoise and warm, simply amazing. Back home we bought ourselves Shandals (beach shoes, hiking sandals) that was the best shoes to wear ever. After our tour, we had an included DR buffet lunch that was really good and all you can drink Rum and coke LOL. Everything was perfect, can’t wait to go back!!!
