Fantastic experience! Very serviceminded in the office, the guide was very nice and safety oriented. I strongly recommend them!

A very nice small glacial lake nestled in the Dolomites. Floristic-vegetation rarities and birds population. A very quiet and relaxing place for fishing. Spectacular lanscape all around. Very close you will find the Certosa di Vedana, medieval religious building.

Passo Falzarego is a mountain pass that has 33 hairpin curves going up and 27 coming down, for a grand total of 60. As is the custom in the Dolomites, each hairpin curve is marked with its number and elevation. At the top, you definitely want to take the cable car/gondola ride to Lagazuoi Peak, for both its history and the magnificence of its views. This peak was the object of heavy combat and mine warfare in WWI, causing the Italians to tunnel under the Austrian lines. We very much would have liked to explore the tunnels, but they were closed (early June) due to the snow. We enjoy visiting ski resorts and their mountains during spring and summer months, and especially enjoy riding the cable cars/gondolas to their peaks. Our experience in the U.S. has been that the gondola rides usually pass several towers before reaching the top, and usually the gondola is not that high off the ground. This gondola, however, crossed zero towers and the assent to 9,062 feet was rapid and steep. We were way off the ground. We met a family from Colorado and we all agreed this ride beats anything in Colorado. Another difference is that in the U.S. cable cars run continuously. You pay and the next car may be waiting for you. Here, there were only two cars running, one coming down as the other went up; but the ride is less than 5 minutes, so the wait was negligible. We were there mid-morning in early June and had no line to contend with. According to a a woman from the Czech Republic who has come to Mount Lagazuoi several times, the peak is crazy crowded in July and August. There was still a lot of snow at the top in early June. Our intention had been to take the gondola up and walk down; however, the path down was still closed due to the snow. The view from the top was almost beyond words. Similar to the Grand Canyon, it is a view so vast, so beautiful and so unique that you almost feel unworthy. Pictures cannot do justice. We hated to come off the mountain.
