On February 13, 1947, the Imperial Leduc No. 1 well was brought in, forever changing Alberta's Energy story. This monumental discovery was key to the success of Alberta's petroleum industry. The well was decommissioned in 1974, and our museum opened on the historic well-site in 1997. Today, the Canadian Energy Museum strives to share and celebrate Canada's Energy story, exploring everything from coal and petroleum resources to future innovations in geothermal and biomass energy production.

Movie in the park was an awesome experience. Brought our chair, snacks and blanket and watched this months feature movie Coco. Voyager park also connects to great hiking trails and access to the river with a boat launch. Fun for the kids to fish, lots of parking and great picnic area and lots of space to run and play.

18 Holes Nestled along the North Saskatchewan River The Devon Golf and Conference Centre, located 25 minutes from West Edmonton Mall, and 20 minutes from South Edmonton Common, is set along the scenic valley of the North Saskatchewan River. It opened in 1954 as a 9 hole golf course, built for the oil workers servicing Leduc #1 oil field. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1970. Golfers who visit Devon will find narrow, tree-lined fairways that closely follow the natural contours of the river valley providing a challenge for all levels of golfer. Players are rewarded for correct club selection and smart course management. Devon’s greens are fast and require a soft touch on the undulating surfaces. The Lions campground is located adjacent to the golf course and has everything from fully serviced lots to tent stalls. Nature lovers will enjoy the extensive groomed walking trails that surround the golf course in the river valley.
All green in play day one and in good condition. Fairways have dead stops but will grow in as soon as weather warms up. a very challenging course. Staff very helpful.

The University of Alberta Botanic Garden (formerly the Devonian Botanic Garden) is an award-winning visitor attraction, located 15 minutes SW of Edmonton, with cultivated gardens and plant collections, indoor showhouses, and extensive natural areas. Highlights of the Garden, which was established in 1959, include the spectacular Aga Khan Garden, beautiful Kurimoto Japanese Garden; a Tropical Showhouse with exotic butterflies; Temperate and Arid Showhouses; Indigenous Garden; numerous plant collections and more. Open to visitors throughout the year, with periodic closures between seasons. Hours vary - check website for details.
The Aga Khan Garden and Japanese garden are both gorgeous and where we spent most of our time. Admission is a bit expensive, but it's worth it. I hope next year we'll be able to see the indoor gardens/exhibits as well.
