Cycling fun on rails In the middle of the Burgenland, at a longitude of 23 km, it’s possible to explore the Sonnenland Mittelburgenland by Draisine. People get the chance to cycle along an old railroad, from the Blaufrankischland until the adventure-, culture- and shopping city Oberpullendorf. Vineyards, fields of sunflowers, shadowy woods and romantic villages; straight through the Sonnenland Mittelburgenland leads the Draisinentour. When the rape blossoms in spring and the sunflowers sway through the wind in midsummer, a sunny yellow is the dominant color. Along the tour there are various sights to discover: For example you can visit the small church in Stoob with romantic frescoes. The museum at Schloss Lackenbach is called “Der Natur auf der Spur”; there visitors have the possibility to experience consciously nature as well as smell, see and hear nature. Another great excursion leads to the museum of the culture of construction in Neutal. What is a Draisine? The Draisine is driven like a bicycle, just with pedals and rides on the rails like a railway. Depending on the model there are Draisinen of four up to ten places. The Sonnenland not only offers numerous landscaped, cultural and regional distinctions but also a wide range of further tasteful reasons which lead to a visit, namely titbits which are known everywhere in Austria. At the station in Markt St. Martin there are offered tasty “Draisinenbrote” and pizzas and for groups we offer packages which include a full lunch. At the station in Stoob, our “rustic station” we offer home-made “Strudels” and other delicacies of our region. At the “sweet station” in Lackenbach there are offered home-made “Mehlspeisen” and a wide range of ice cream. For our little guests there is a XXL-sandbox where they can display their creativity. We also offer packages four groups so that your trip becomes an unforgettable experience.
