Shark Bay - We left Billabong Roadhouse and drove on up the Highway until we reached the turn off for Shark Bay, known to the local Malgana people as Gutharraguda, meaning two bays. It is a World Heritage listed site for its beauty and abundant prehistoric life forms, evolution in action and wildlife refuges. It is made up of the Francois Peron National Park, the Shark Bay Marine Park and Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve. Nearby is Shell Beach, a Discovery Centre, Eagle Bluff and a Discovery Trail - this is a great place for families - all the above is free and you get to see some amazing things and learn a little too. It is a sleepy little place but well worth driving from attraction to attraction over a couple of days.

Watch the raw fury of sharks feeding from the safety of our observation decks by joining a guided tour of the park with a marine scientist, or relax with never ending ocean views at Ocean Park Cafe. We are famous for our fine quality coffee, delicious cake and fresh seafood meals!
Had the awesome experience to witness the marine life within the aquarium, we had Josh as our guide who was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable and his passion about the marine life made learning about the creatures even more easier and having experienced the shark feeding was the highlight of the tour. After our tour we had a very tasty lunch on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean/bay. Would highly recommend visiting the place.

...like the person who wrote the “Interesting...but” review below (PeterM). The stromatolites are truly fascinating; they exist just as their descendants did 3.5 billion years ago, and Shark Bay is one of the only (and arguably the best) place on Earth to see them alive still. These things literally created the Earth’s atmosphere and air you breathe so make sure you say thanks and don’t leave a 3-star review on tripadvisor
