Great hiking trails with a water fowl observation area. There is a cozy nature center with exhibits of local wildlife. There is also bird watching windows where you can stay dry and warm while observing all the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that come to visit.

Visited Alum Creek State Park in December; not the best time to enjoy all the recreational opportunities, including water sports, available at this State Park. But, I stopped at three salient features of the park- the Beach (campgrounds), the Visitor Center, and the Dam. Each place has its own parking area. Walked on the concrete paved trail in the beach area, and then hiked to the Visitor Center (closed due to the pandemic). Then went to the dam parking area and walked on the paved trail up to the dam. Enjoyed the view of the water flow at the dam. The dam trail continues for about three miles east but it is not paved. Also, there are several unpaved hiking trails both upstream and downstream of the dam, but they were too wet or iced up during my visit. Alum Creek State Park would be well worth the visit when the weather is good to enjoy all the recreational options available at the park.

This facility is well organized, with swimming, fishing, disc golf, playgrounds and more. If you camp, be sure you lock up your food well, the raccoons enjoyed our eggs, got those right out of the cooler...lol. Kids all enjoyed the stay.
