We just got a puppy and have been taking him to Barkley. It is clean and spacious. A lot better than some of the dog parks I have been too. Recommend. Wish the dog bath would work though. It's been broken for a long time. There are thefts. Don't bring anything of value.

We visited this Park again as we were staying nearby. This is a great place to eat your lunch and watch all the boats coming in and out of the harbour. There are a group of ducks that charge over to you in the hope of food. They are no trouble but one of them had fishing line around it's leg. We managed to remove the offending line before the duck came to any harm. Also we discovered that a little grey cat often came over to us. No idea where it lived, but we gave it a little tin of food a couple of times. I was sorely tempted to bring it home with us, but sanity ruled. I hope someone owns this little cat because it was so sweet. On the day we were going home, there was a very large boat parade. It was a lovely day for everyone.

Freedom park is a nice quiet friendly park to exercise, walk or even have a nice picnic while watching the kids play. But what so amazing of all was that my husband and I married right under the pavilion near the garden. Just beautiful!

The Gillespie Museum, Stetson University’s earth science museum, houses an historic mineral collection, with nearly a thousand of its 15,000 specimens on display in changing exhibits. There are also small galleries devoted to natural history, collecting, Florida ecosystems, fluorescent minerals, volcanism and the rock cycle. The grounds of the museum and of the adjacent Rinker Environmental Learning Center provide outdoor classrooms and native plant landscapes. Hours may vary during holidays and university breaks. Please see website for more information.
It's worth the time to visit. Especial, if you are interested in gem stones, nature or geology. The also have a wildflower garden next to the museum. It's free! So, this is a perfect stop for those on a budget.
