This is a wonderful place to visit. Unfortunately the observation tower is closed due to COVID-19. You can still walk the nature trail and trail to observation tower. The best thing is standing still and watching thousands of Sandhill Cranes act in their natural setting. The sound of the. Is amazing. Binoculars make it even better! Walk the boardwalk also across the road. If you’re lucky you’ll also see hundreds of white Pelicans and snowy egrets.

This is a quaint little shop that sells all types of pecans in assorted sizes. These may great and inexpensive one-of-a-kind gifts. As others have noted, the Key Lime Pecans are amazing and I've never seen them anywhere else. If you do buy bags as gifts get a bag or small tub of the Key Lime pecans for yourself!

Historic Decatur is a lovely place for a nice walk on a sunny day. The homes are spectacular and the people are very friendly. They wave and actually talk to you from their porches if they are outside! Download the pocketsights app on your phone, search for Decatur AL and you will find a great walking tour of the Historic Decatur neighborhood that is about a mile and a half long. Lovely place!

I should note that living abroad I have a chance to sample beer from Shanghai to Saigon and from Australia to Alabama. From the renovated warehouse facility to the simply wickedly well done graphics and branding, XEO has nailed the cool mircoBrew experience. Don’t miss the chance to sample multiple beers but also spend some time with your favorite!
