Unlike the usual passes which take you over the mountain, here you drive through the mountains, following the river and surrounded by towering, absolutely breathtaking rock formations. Best of all, there are three rest stops with super clean toilets and picnic areas. Stop at the waterfall and amble up for views and a bit of leg stretching.

The horses are gentle, obedient and respond so well. The terrain and views are amazing. Big mountain backdrops, lovely farmlands, hills and valleys and natural bush and veld. Professionally handled by the Klein Karoo Horse Adventures group, who are friendly and patient.

What an absolutely stunning drive, very very clean, lovely streams of water and the staff very friendly. Just a pity about speeding cars and trucks driving through.

Doornkraal Padstal is a Farm Stall with a wonderful collection of local Klein Karoo products. It includes a great collection of Klein Karoo wines and brandies, olives and olive oils, dried fruit and other local treats.

Best wine, especially the sweet dessert wines! Sit and have roosterkoek if you can. I would also recommend the jams, karoobossie salt, and highly recommend getting some Moskonfyt.. If you want to sleep over on the farm Domein Doornkraal, I would recommend staying at "Kerneelia". A lovely isolated and off the grid cottage.

Signage to the farm could be better. Once there you will find olive oil and products at excellent prices. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dried olives and 1lt olive bags really good. Will be back
