Amicalola Falls is stunning. We started with views from the top of the falls and then drove to the visitors center. From there we hiked a short way to see the falls from the base. The leaves have started to change and views are amazing. Nature at its best!

Highly recommend a trip to this park. The scenery was beautiful even in the dead of winter. The Georgia State park pass was $5 at the gate, not bad. We stopped in at the visitor center and happened to be there when they started a wildlife presentation. That was cool. There was lots of information about the Appalachian trail, which was interesting. The visitor center has maps of hiking trails to hike up to the falls, which can be an hour to two hour (ish) hike up and back or you can drive up the road towards the top of the falls and take the 1st right into a small lot, from there you can walk on a paved trail to the middle of the Falls. There are several ways to see the falls. There is a staircase going from the top down to the middle and all the way to the bottom of the falls. We chose the easiest route and it was beautiful. The lodge at the top of the Falls has a nice deck you can walk out onto or grab a chair, its a beautiful view. There is the Maple restaurant inside the lodge, it also has a beautiful dining room with great views. There are several trails around the park, great place for hiking.

There are several diverse tails in Amicalola Falls State Park, but "Base of the Falls Trail" is our favorite. It starts at the visitor center just inside the park and meanders alongside the level roadway to a reflecting pool at the base of the falls, then turns into a steep climb of paved switchbacks and stairs to a magnificent view point midway up the falls. To hike this trail, we usually drive past the visitor center and park at the lot by the reflecting pool. On our visit this week, we saw several visitors fishing for trout in the reflecting pool, which is allowed with a fishing license in season. The hike up the trail was particularly rewarding this week because we got to see a lot of native wildflowers in bloom, including hillsides of different trillium, phlox, and more. The falls themselves were rushing with lots of spring rain runoff. One of the nice things about this trail is that there are lots of view points with space to move off the trail and just enjoy the view. You can choose to hike only as far as you want, so you shouldn't avoid the trail because you think you can't make it all the way up. Any part of the trail you do will be worth your while.

We need to support this place! For $6 it is a great way to spend 2+ hours. I am a big NASCAR fan so really enjoyed the Bill and Chase Elliot section. Most of it is Bill, since he won 44 NASCAR races. Loved the crashed car with video footage. There is so much here. You really must take your time to catch it all. Starts with a good movie covering some of the key figures you are about to learn about. Lots of cars, trophy's and photos throughout. Many videos playing. My buddy, who has never been to a NASCAR race even enjoyed it (I helped explain some things and answered his questions). The gift shop has some great prices with old collectibles for sale. I got a six pack of Richard Petty Pepsi bottles, and Bill Elliot and Davey Allison cars. It was great to learn about all the Georgia race tracks and there is so much here that it overflows into the bathrooms even. Well worth it, if you are any where in the area (we drove over from Amicola Falls). Support this great museum!

What a phenomenal little place! The gentleman working in the Distillery that day was beyond knowledgeable about the distilling process, the alcohols they have, and made sure to have you taste the difference. I not only learned a lot, but tasted a lot as well. Personally, the Apple Pie Moonshine, and the White Lightning were my favorite, but the White Lightning feels like it lights a fire inside! This was easily one of the highlights of my family’s trip to Georgia, and I truly hope I get to visit again soon!

Uncle Shuck's Corn Maze is a extraordinary outdoor farm and family friendly establishment! We were impressed by the size,options and quality of the activities they have in one location beginning with the parking. The maze itself is laid out with creative detail and is well groomed and decorated with good signage and observation bridges to keep moving in the right direction; well most of the time, which led to some good laughter in our family and others nearby. This could keep kids busy for hours of wholesome fun, adults as well. I liked the challenge of the checkpoints and the children liked the various shaped hole punches at each checkpoint and the feeling of accomplishment at each one found and multiple goofy entertaining photo op's. Fall is perfect for a wagon ride, which is also a good opportunity to get off your feet for a while an enjoy the farm scenery and a river view. No farm is complete without some animals and crop and the pumpkins and goats were delightful. I have to admit the corn cannon was my favorite. Not many things as gratifying as shooting an automobile with a cannon! There are so many activities that come with the price of admission, to many to list in a short review. The refreshment options are multiple and it was good we didn't have to leave to go get a meal since we stayed so long having good clean country fun! We'll be back! PKP

There are a lot of stores for different tastes, shoes, sports, cloths, etc. If you come from the city, it would be good to get early in order to visit all you are interested. I like Adidas (very good offers), Banana Republic,Cole Haan and Columbia. As well, there are top-class stores such as Polo, Tommy Hilfoger and Brooks Brothers
