I just saw the San Francisco Symphony perform with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting in his final year with SFS. Tickets were scarce, and I wanted to be able to see the faces of MTT and his troupe, so I sprang for top cost best available. It was my first visit to Mondavi Center, and I was very impressed. The venue is lovely, and the amenities are excellent. The seats are larger and more comfortable than Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and there is no bad seat that I could see. I am happy that I sprang for the high end seat I got, but I also now know that I don't need to do that in the future, any seat would be good.

Great Bear Vineyards is a boutique winery offering premium wine tastings in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Davis, California. During COVID19 - Open Friday 5-8pm for drinks, Saturday & Sunday noon-4pm for Wine Tasting. We open for wine sales during additional hours, and we do free local delivery - see website for details. We open by appointment on all other dates (subject to availability) for wine tasting and parties for groups of 6 or more - please phone or email for more details.
I was visiting a friend in California and our visit to Great Bear Vineyards was definitely the highlight of my trip. The wines were superb, and I especially liked their award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. What made the visit special was the tour of the 10 acres of vineyard surrounding the winery and the tour of the barrel room, with the owners, Jenny & Marcus. We learnt all about the process of grape growing and wine making. Given the hard work, care, and passion put into every step of growing and hand-harvesting the grapes, and making the wines, I now understand why they taste so fabulous. Highly recommend visiting this excellent winery for the ambiance and for the wines.

The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden spans the campus’s 5300-plus acres and includes the historic Arboretum – a 100-plus acre campus and regional amenity comprised of demonstration gardens and scientific collections as well as the Putah Creek Riparian Reserve – a rare stream and grassland ecosystem managed for teaching, research, wildlife and habitat protection.
I love public gardens all the time, but I appreciate them even more during Covid. The UC Davis Arboretum is a special place. The view of the creek as you walk the paths, the serenity of the gardens, and the wonderful exercise you get there keeps me coming back when I am in Davis. I'd go every time if I could, but my daughter won't let me. I feel very fortunate she was willing to go during my most recent trip to Davis.

I bought 3 great Japanese Block Art style T-shirts there that I love! There's quite a variety of items there, not just paintings and sculptures.

The campus is large in size but completely flat so walking is easy. There is a mix of old and new, modern and traditional architecture, public art displayed throughout, and lots of friendly students who will say "hi" as you walk by. The attractiveness of the campus accompanies the first-rate academic and artistic programs offered, and the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is as first-rate a concert hall that you would find anywhere in the world. A terrific place to spend the day, and an enriching university for those seeking post-secondary education opportunities.

Took my 1-year old daughter there for the first time this year. It is the perfect size for these little ones. Not a big farm but there is a petting zoo (for an additional cost) and free tractor ride plus reasonable pumpkins. My 1-year old loved the straw bale maze (came to the top of her head) and the corn maze (simply a straight line). Older kids may not like it but good for a baby- toddler pumpkin patch.
