Damaraland was a name given to the north-central part of what later became Namibia, inhabited by the Damaras. It was bounded roughly by Ovamboland in the north, the Namib Desert in the west, the Kalahari Desert in the east, and Windhoek in the south.

Though this is the country's most well-known mountain, at 180 meters it isn't the tallest.
Spitzkoppe is a beautiful location and should be included in anybody's Namibia exploration! The beautiful granite peaks have stood in this region for more than 120 million years and they are a marvel to photograph. We stayed at the Spitzkoppe Rest Camp which is a very affordable campground. Park entrance and permits for 2 people, plus one vehicle, was $360 N (about $32 CAD). There are a few lodges in the area, but the prices aren't even comparable. The park itself is beautiful and is well known for Natural Arch. Spitzkoppe is the perfect getaway, and with no light pollution, you're sure to experience a night sky filled with stars.

The Damara living museum is a must place to go to get an understanding of how the Damara people of Namibia used to live. The participants are passionate in keeping their traditions alive and pass on a lot of their native traditions to the younger generations.

Proclaimed a national monument in 1952, this is one of the most famous rock art concentrations in Africa featuring more than 5,000 petroglyphs and 200 rock paintings.
We were on an arranged 12 day tour around Namibia which included a visit to Twyfelfontein. Once you park at the designated parking space it is a short walk tot he reception that has a well stocked gift shop and a small shop with refreshments. It is run by the local people and you are allocated a guide who takes you around explaining the paintings and answering questions. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. THe painting are beautiful and apparently only a precentage of what is actually still in the area

We went there in December, We were staying at Ugab Lodge and saw that Brandberg was not far off so we traveled to see the Mountain. We arrived around lunch time and the sun was at its hottest, so i would say its best to go in the Morning! We had a Guide that was very informative and Friendly! The Mountain is Huge, we hiked inside to the Whit Lady Paintings which was fun if you like hiking, 1 hour in 1 hour out, take lots of water! Scenery is Beautiful!
