What to do and see in Dallas, Texas (TX): The Best Traveler Resources

August 8, 2021 Toi Mattera

You may have all heard that everything is bigger in Texas. Well, Dallas does its best to fulfill that promise. You'll find several museums with vast art collections and fascinating specialty museums like The Sixth Floor Museum/Texas School Book Depository, which, though small in size, offers an immense amount of information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. And of course, visit a local steakhouse for a terrific (and enormous) meal.

Half Price Books

Anyone who loves books, will find a new "Special" Place here. I give myself a reward by visiting HPB, when I have accomplished some task. My wife and I love to go there. We browse for 1-2 hours, then meet at the Black Forest Cafe for a lite lunch, review our choice of books, keeping those we want. We then browse for another 1-2 hours. We love doing this because of the WIDE range of books. If you can not find it in the store, they will find it for you at another location and ship it to your home. I thoroughly enjoy this huge collection of great books. I have found signed copies, and "Out of Print" books. I usually take a box of books from my library. My wife urges me to purge my personal collection (often). On Cold, rainy days this is truly like a Mini-Vacation.

Dallas Convention Center

A municipal building where conventions are held.

Wonderful venue for our yearly convention. Lots of room, plenty of different sized rooms to meet the needs of all of our classes. The tech staff was extremely efficient. The fire Marshalls were there to assure no rooms were overcrowded. Lots of VERY CLEAN restrooms, wide halls so everyone could get where they needed. Lots of maps giving accurate info as to room locations. I was pleased with this venue!!

This is by far my favorite CL. It’s huge and felt very comfortable. The hefty annual fee for the Platinum card does come with nice perks like the airport lounges. The staff in the lounges are second to none.
