Really nice place for cross-country skiing, with tons of snow, light frost, and awesome views! Good restaurants, live music, night club. No wi-fi in the hut we staying in. Swimming pool with whirlpool and sauna, bowling. Very helpful staff in all areas.

Housed at the Wasa Fjällgård Hotel in Salen, I dedicated the 24th of December to the ice rink, Skistar Salen. Quite close to Salen, it was easy to find a house that provided us with all the equipment to practice Ski for a very reasonable price. Arriving to sky lane and equipped, we climbed the elevators and tried to give the least number of falls, even in the easier lane. It's "painful" to see 3/4 year old kids passing us by at speed .... We ended up sore and hungry at Mac Donalds. Great Day !!

It's July so there's no skiing for us. The mix of hiking trails close to the various skiing areas offers a nice mix variety of paths suitable for inexperienced and serious hikers. There are also plenty of trails suitable for cross country and downhill cyclists. But that's got nothing to do with how we ended up in Hundfjallet today. As regular Pokemon Go players we've been shocked at the lack of pokestops and absence of gyms in Lindvallen. Hundfjallet more than made up for this with at least 5 gyms and 10 stops starting in the car park and then winding up through the entertaining Trollskogen. Trollskogen has numerous carvings, displays and decorated trees. Many are troll based with fun scenes and some audio (Swedish only). In the winter this would be fun for kids and big kids to ski down. If you've ever skied in the Björnen area of Åre then you'll have some idea of what to expect. Whilst the area is very quiet at this time of year there is a waffle cafe at the foot of the trail that is open until 4.00 p.m.

Stöten is the northernmost ski resort in the Sälen mountain range, and is also home to the highest peak – 370 metres – which means magnificent views of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. You'll find slopes for all levels of skiers here, from beginner to daredevil. Craving cross-country? Stöten boasts 45 kilometres of trails (including 3 kilometers of lit trails), both for classic and skate skiing.
