This former Bedouin fishing village is now a popular tourist destination—especially for serious windsurfers, who'll find some of the best conditions in the world off Dahab's beaches. Long known as a laid-back, backpacker-friendly town, Dahab is becoming more developed, yet retains a casual vibe. Finally, Dahab is also home to the Blue Hole, the world's most dangerous dive site. Only very experienced technical divers should attempt passage through "The Arch" here; if you're a novice diver, stay close to the surface. (Editor's note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. If you're currently planning a trip to Egypt, please consider the risks and monitor your government's travel alerts.)

The Penguin dive centre is located yards from the water's edge on the seafront on the Mashraba reef and the vibe is very friendly, fresh, relaxing and positive. This is life in the slow lane – the most effort required is putting your kit in the back of the truck or putting it on before falling in the water. Our confined and open water areas are only 10 minutes from the centre. Our facilities include Penguin Hotel, restaurant, an air-conditioned classroom, TV/DVD, White Screen and its mini-library with all the DVD and CD-ROM PADI materials. We also have a screened changing area, shower rooms, fresh water rinse tanks, secure kit storage, open-air lounge. our smaller size groups & courses create an intimate and sociable atmosphere between guides, guests and crews. Our multi-national staff speak a range of languages and guests from many different countries will find all their needs catered for, both above and below the water.

After having enjoyed a in week in Dahab with yoga classes, snorkeling and some day trips I enrolled in a desert yoga week organised by Nour wellness /Embah travel. One of the most special trips I have done. They take you into the desert to such a spiritual powerful place where you can practice with sunrise and sunset. The teacher Iliya guiding us in Yoga/Tai shi and Qi Gong was the perfect choice, to travel with. Not to forget about Ehab who pampered us the whole time and on top of that cooked like you were in a 5 star restaurant. I will definitely come back for more adventures. Thanks also to Emma to make this possible. The length of organisational skills a trip like this requires is beyond explainable to anyone. The authenticity of it is just amazing. Thank you!!!

Down to -30m and slowly up along a astonishing steep-edge reef (reaching down to >100m) to the Blue Hole with plenty of fishes and coralls.

You can see by my profile that while I don't dive frequently, I have dived all over the world. The Red Sea is a bucket list site for divers- not just me! We dove a handful of sites around Dahab and snorkeled in a lot of places as well and I have to say that the hype is real. Just thinking about it makes me emotional. Vivid, living reef, PACKED with sealife. Even the most casual snorkeling in front of our hotel revealed National Geographic level fish, morays, sea horses, stunning corals of all kinds. Watch out for those lion fish! Staggering, amazing, incredible- DIVES OF A LIFETIME!!!!

Sandana Sandboarding is Egypt's #1 sandboarding company, organizing trips in Cairo and South Sinai out of Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh in affiliation with 'Remal Adventures' and 'Sandboarding Cairo Club'. We see sandboarding as the sort of thing a great potential to grow because of the invigorating rush that comes with the slide down, the fact that it’s wild fun and all the while still safe enough for even children to enjoy. Besides sandboarding isn’t seasonal and is something that can be done all year round. If you haven't yet tried sandboarding, it's time to give it a try! It's safe and it's a whole lot of fun!
