This former Bedouin fishing village is now a popular tourist destination—especially for serious windsurfers, who'll find some of the best conditions in the world off Dahab's beaches. Long known as a laid-back, backpacker-friendly town, Dahab is becoming more developed, yet retains a casual vibe. Finally, Dahab is also home to the Blue Hole, the world's most dangerous dive site. Only very experienced technical divers should attempt passage through "The Arch" here; if you're a novice diver, stay close to the surface. (Editor's note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. Traveling during these uncertain times requires extra planning and preparation to consider new and changing guidelines that differ by country. After doing our research, we decided to take advantage of the "open" entry requirements in both Turkey and Egypt for a quick Autumn trip to quench our pent up travel desires. Istanbul was simple, as we had been many times before, but heading to Cairo to visit the pyramids took more planning. The team at Amwag Tours was very accommodating on every request as we planned our itinerary and prepared for the unexpected. From the time we were welcomed at arrivals to the morning we departed, every need was met and Coronavirus precautions in place. Our tour guide, Mo, did an excellent job at guiding us throughout the journey, providing a history lesson everywhere we visited and being attentive to our needs as we navigated itinerary changes we were making as we went along. At every point our small group of friends felt safe while having our Security detail with us at all times. Our drive, Bilal, was also great with driving us everywhere we decided to visit in a new, spacious van. I definitely recommend the team at Amwag when you're planning on visiting Egypt!

i contacted Lady Egypt as i had read good reviews about them and the prices were reasonable. Abeer was the lady that took care of my request and due to coronavirus, we extended our mails over one year + due to Corona. i have no words to appreciate the patience of Abeer as i changed the trip route once and again...thank you Abeer! once there, Islam took care of us in a very effective and professional way. His very best interest was us to feel that it would be the Trip of our life. he even prepared some surprise for one of our friends that had his bday during our stay. thanks Islam! the tour guides were very professional too. both of them were called Mahmoud - the one in Cairo was lovely and the one in the Nile cruise was a great companion. so again - no complains! all in all - a round trip to remember

We booked this trip with the Egypt Tours company and it turns out we paid too much since St. Catherine monastery is closed because of the COVID virus, but we still paid for it. I would suggest going with other companies that only climb up Mt. Sinai and save money. There were 5 different vans from different tour companies going from Sharm El Sheikh to St. Catherine at the same time our van was and we encountered these vans at the St. Catherine gift shop before beginning the climb up Mt. Sinai. The tour company gave every a small flashlight so we can see the path in the dark, and they turned us over to a guide who brought the group up the mountain path. There are frequent stops along the way, but our guide liked to drink coffee at every stop so we ended up waiting for him to finish coffee at every stop. At the top of the stair section, there are several coffee stands and you can also buy souvenirs. If you feel cold, you can also rent a big blanket for $3 USD, but I didn't need it because I went in May and it was not too cold. I also brought sweat pants and jacket, so I was not too cold at the top. After you reach the last coffee shops, you are on your own and the guide is not involved, so you can go to the mosque at the top to see the sunrise when you want. I think it's best to wait for first light, before sunrise to go to the very top, not when it is still too dark to see the stairs. I and several other people found a spot on a rock to see the sunrise and it was just like in a movie. Very special experience at a very important places in biblical history. After the sun became too bright to view and began to feel hot, we all walked down the trail on our own to St. Catherine, but this turned out to be the hazardous part of the trip. One of the women in our group slipped and hurt her ankle while going down the stair part of the trail and limped the rest of the way down. We waited for the tour operator to show up at St. Catherine, since it doesn't open early, and the only thing available was the gift shop. The church was closed because of COVID, so we returned to Sharm El Sheikh with only half of the trip done.

The driver and the tour guide were at our Airbnb 10 minutes earlier. The van was spacious and clean. The vibe was relaxed and positive since the beginning. Abdu, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and he showed proficiency not only in French but also in English. Alexandria is beautiful and the Mediterranean Sea is what crowns it. The Greco Roman catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar, the Citadel of Qaitbay, the restaurant, everything was delightful. At the end our driver even helped us find a suitcase in downtown Cairo. It was awesome!
