What to do and see in Cuyo, Cuyo: The Best Bodies of Water

October 18, 2021 Roger Rusk

Most Argentinean wine is produced in the mountainous Cuyo region, and visiting oenophiles rave about their experiences here. Whether you take a packaged tour of vineyards or explore on your own (some TripAdvisor travelers recommend renting a bike!), you’re sure to come home with amazing memories… and probably a new favorite Malbec.

Today we had a wonderful tour with Runacay. They picked us up at our house with a giant 4wd. We had a lovely day. English spoken and some surprises on the road, highly recommended.

This location is of historic significance because it is where General San Martin staged and entered the Andes mountains to cross from Argentina to Chile to work with General O’Higgins in fighting off the Spanish and winning the independence in South America. One of the best experiences to do here is to go horseback riding into these foothills of the Andes. It is beautiful, and gives you a sense of the life of gauchos and how Martin traversed.
