Curarrehue (Spanish pronunciation: [kuɾaˈrewe]) is a town and commune in Cautín Province of Araucanía Region, Chile. The origin of Curarrehue dates back to the occupation of Araucanía and the Conquest of the Desert by the Chilean and Argentine army respectively in the 1870s and 1880s when Mapuches were pushed by the Argentine Army through Mamuil Malal Pass into the valley of Curarrehue where they settled.

My wife and I booked a half day horseback riding tour with Matias and Corina in end of December. Both of us are total beginners / never rode a horse before - so we were looking forward for the trip with a certain amount of nervousness and doubts. Thanks to the really great hosts Corina and Matias, their very nice horses and the beautiful piece of land this excursion took place, all our doubts just turned into a great and very memorable experience. Matias picked us up directly at our hotel in Pucon and almost instantly won our trust with a very pleasant conversation and details on how he and his wife Corina handle these excursions. Arrived on the premises Corina and Martin took all the time necessary to introduce us to our horses and gave us a riding lesson to give us all the convenience we needed to enjoy the following tour. Corina guided our tour very nicely and took us through beautiful nature to a fantastic lookout over four volcanoes of the area. Bottom line: We do highly recommend this horseback riding experience with Corina and Matias - not matter if you do have riding experience or not. Thank you once again Corina and Matias for this very memorable experience!
