Cumbuco is a small fishing village situated about 25 kilometres (16 mi) North West from the city of Fortaleza, in the state of Ceara, along the north east coast of Brazil. The population is around 1600. The village is regarded as picturesque and scenic and is attracting both domestic and international tourism. Cumbuco has a beautiful and quiet beach near Fortaleza on one side of town and the famous sand dunes on the other side. There is a small and busy village centre built around the main square adjacent to the beach which has a fresh fish market, tropical palm trees, and several beach restaurants (barracas).

The lagoon is small and gets crowded but it's ideal for practicing uncooked tricks and a nice destination for a downwinder from Cumbuco (8km). You can catch a buggy taxi back to Cumbuco (over the beach) which is an attraction on it's own.
You can get drinks and some food there too.

In this nice place, far fee kilometers from Fortaleza, you can find nice houses with direct access to the sea and also beach facilities into the restaurants on the beach. Sand everywere, many kilometers to make kite surf, have a trip with 'jangada' that is a tipical ship to fish. You can also havr fun with tour with dunebuggy, quad, or horse. So... have fun!

A Lagoa é uma ótima parada para quem está fazendo o passeio de Buggy. Além de ótimas fotos, uma descida até a mesma é diversão garantida. Definitivamente as dunas são um presente a parte.

Plastic Seating all cracked and broken, rubbish scattered about. Think they do water sports on lagoon but dry! How is this place ever going to attract people who want to jet ski etc., it really does need to 'up its game' especially if it wants to appeal to a European market. I just think the Brasilans don't know how to do customer service!

I went with my family to know this place and was very good! Animals, restaurant, museum, nature and much more do everybody to like of the attractions. Only one thing was not so good: the service; can be better because is the internal and external touristic point. But, I recommend.

Driving around the outskirts of Cumbuco on our rented buggy we happened to pass this place. We tried to visit (on X-mas day so in peak tourist season) but it was closed off by gates and marked private.
So I don't know if you need to book this trip in town but for sure don't try to go there on your own!

Dei uma passadinha rapidinha de buggy e deu para perceber de cara que é uma boa praia e não tão conhecida pelos turistas ,mesmo assim valeu e muito o passeio.

went here with my 5 year old daughter. she was really excited about the slides but whe she wanted to go down them she was not allowed as she was under 120cm. basically there was nothing she could do except swim in the pool which we could have done at the pousada. the place is also pretty old and run down and the food is mediocre.

One of the oldest cinemas in the city with a richly decorated interior. This theater was closed for several years and only works for festivals and special events. The facade has nothing special, do not waste your time. See just passing through the Ferreira´s square.
