A famed Cuban beach ideal for lying out in the sun.
Took a 25 min private taxi driver to Playa Santa Maria. 6CUC for 2 chaises and an umbrella. Many vendors but none offensive and all respectful. Sand is fine powder... water so blue.

Took the $5 Guardelavaca Hop in Hop Off Bus for $5 cuc, went down at Guardelavaca Flea Market then took a Calesa going to the Beach. Warm water, white sand and Torquise water. You can walk till the end and take some pictures in a cave, rocks and coconut trees.

It’s a 10CUC peso cab ride each way or 5CUC each way on the bus that stops at each hotel every hour up until around 5pm-ish (if you take a cab there prearrange with your driver when you want him to come back to get you - best tip we got) Rent a day bed or 2 deck chairs under a covered & elevated shaded space for 10CUC & they (an older Cuban gentleman wearing a hat - think softened-Cuban-style-grandpa with a fanny pack) give you 3 free drinks (tickets exchanged) at the beach bar as well, (cocktails, beer - didn’t see wine as an option) which also has premium pineapple filled fruit filled drinks & light snacks (Pringle’s etc) at a reasonable price Rent just 2 beach chairs for 4CUC There are no hotels on this beach area - though catamarans do include the beach on day tours & pull in daily They also offer excursions from this beach but really it’s fantastic on its own & worth checking out. There is a small decent restaurant right on the beach at the end of the boardwalk that serves chicken & lobster dishes as well as beer and wi e & it has a thatched roof covering but still outside and open. Was there in March and the sun is intense - pack a good sunblock, hats & cover ups. Bring TP - the bathrooms were usable but not idea - keeping in mind it is Cuba ;)

We visited that beach on several occasions since 2015. Perfectly white sand and perfectly blue and warm ocean. Great for snorkeling. There are few places to get some food or buy some souvenirs.

The long stretch of beach in Varadero is perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Water is crystal clear, the beach is white sand and seemingly endless, and of course, the Cuban culture adds to the charm of this most amazing place. When visiting, please respect the beauty of this pristine beach. Don't spoil it with littered cigarette butts and discarded plastic cups in the sand......there are plenty of garbage cans to keep the beach clean. Remember that you are a guest, in a country that has its own issues to deal with......please don't add to their difficulties. Embrace the waves, absorb the culture, dream in the most amazing sunsets, and be respectful of the beauty that warmly welcomed you.

We went to this beach five times in our week at Sol Cayo Largo, once by ferry, once by ATV and three times on foot. It takes about two hours to walk it. This was the most popular of three beaches in the area. You can rent a lounger for 2 CUCs for the day and can get food and drinks brought to you by servers if you sit close to the beach bar. The beach is very beautiful with deep, white, fine-grained sand. The water is calm, even when there is a red flag at the resorts. If you are adventurous and don't mind a walk you can walk and hour loop from the dock to the beach, turning right and continue along the water to the point and back to the dock and you will have a good chance of seeing starfish and stingrays in the shallow water.

My Wife and I took a Taxi out to the Public Beach area of Coral Beach. It is a bit dangerous as the jagged rocks are unavoidable and the waves are bigger with no lifeguard to be seen. However, This Coral Reef cannot be described or even seen in pictures to do it Justice. If you are a confident snorkeler/swimmer and you can respect the environment you are entering and it's delicate nature, you will see things that most people will never see in their life. I thought I was going for the Tropical Fish. It turns out, although awesome, pale in comparison to the Coral Forests that you find yourself swimming through. For instance, Elk Horn Coral is a rare gift to ever see one. Here you find yourself navigating through massive groves of them. I cannot recount all the beauty of that day. Warning!! if you are the least bit unsure of your skills or unaware of how to treat Coral; go to the tour side. It is busy and you will have to pay, but you will get a glimpse into one of this planets most rare and beautiful sites.
