Westchester Trail Rides (and Cowboy Bob) makes for a fabulous horseback riding experience in the woodland hills of northern Westchester County, NY. Bob is wonderful to work with and very helpful and committed to his clients' experience. I arranged a riding experience for my son and daughter-in-law and Cowboy Bob couldn't have been better to work with. His "ranch" in Croton-on-Hudson is a beautiful spot and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds, corrals, and barn, and walking the nearby trails, while Cowboy Bob guided the rest of the family on horseback. It was a beautiful day made more so by the wonderful demeanor and service of Cowboy Bob.

Explore the stone manor house and brick ferry house, wander through the heritage gardens, and stroll down a quiet country road along the Croton River. There, you'll experience the domestic life of a patriot family living in the years just after the American Revolution - the New Nation period. Site is open for tours on weekends during July and August. Property also hosts the popular events LIGHTSCAPES in the spring and the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze in the fall.
Set within the Hudson Valley is a manor straight out of the 18th century and on its property is a breathtaking display of more than 7,000 illuminated jack o’ lanterns. As you meander through the paths that are pumpkin lit, victors will come upon multiple themes filled with illuminated carved pumpkins—complete with spooky music, lighting, and some low-lying fog. Themes vary from spiders, cats, astrological signs, dinosaurs, circus trains, etc. However, my favorite was the overhead tunnel called “the Planetarium” which was totally made up pumpkins carved and grouped together to form a night sky. Music and “shooting stars” just made this theme even more exciting. Best time to go is when the chill in the air is just enough for your breath to be seen. Of course, make sure its dark when you go—preferably after 6:30PM.

This place is so beautiful and the newly finished walkway is great! Every time I go many people are parked and running their cars. Reading books or talking on their phones. For like more than half an hour! It's illegal to idle for more than 3 minutes in this country. If you go, please don't sit there and idle your car-get out and walk it's lovely there and healthier for you. And if you see anyone idling, please tell them to stop. This park needs "no idling" signs. There are town parking enforcement cars that frequently patrol the area that never stop and ask the cars idling to stop. It's a shame.

We go here at least 4 times a week to walk out pups. They love it! It's a great place to watch the sunset and to walk along the sea wall. On Sundays, there is an ice cream truck as well so that's always a treat.
