Did the Dursey Island Loop walk which takes about 12km in total.
It consists of 2 segments - the mountainous route and the low-route. The mountainous route can be considered as moderate in difficulty.
It offers an amazing view and as the island is very sparsely populated, it is very calm, serene and quiet.
No shops or restaurants on the island. Therefore please arrive prepared with drinks and food.
Have a picnic along the walking route.
Highly recommended.

There can't be too many pubs in Ireland much further west than O'Sullivans. Located by the pier in Crookhaven, this is such an idyllic setting. Sitting outside watching various boats pull up or sail slowly by, while sipping a pint or having a sumptuous meal - it doesn't get much better than this! Well worth a visit!

Summer SUP is a stand up paddle board school based on 2 Beaches near Crookhaven in Lovely West Cork We have lessons and rentals available in June/July/August/Sept
We came across the sup school while out for a drive around barley cove and Crookhaven. We rented the boards but the guy gave us clear instructions on where to go and what to do before we headed out. Good mix of relaxing in the sun and a bit of a challenge/work out going against the wind. Definitely recommended!

St. Brendan the Navigator Church of Ireland Is an old stone church surrounded by an equally ancient historic cemetery. The present lovely church was built in 1717 after the predecessor building fell in ruin around 1700. The interior is simple and is known for its carved Gaelic Cross. It is a Crookhaven attraction and you can get there on foot during the walk to the outskirts of the village. The church has Sunday services during the summer. It has no electricity. We heard that around Christmas there is a candlelit service in this church every year.

Having enjoyed a very nice lunch in Crookhaven my wife disappeared into this store. When I went looking for her she had spotted a nice piece but was finding it hard to choose between 2 versions. I told her to ask if they'd give a discount if she took both and they lady said yes.
The 2 pieces totalled €131 and when the lady processed the order she said "that will be €129". My wife looked at me and the lady said "is that ok?" to which I retorted that it was a joke......besides us the shop was empty. I then said that i would be surpised if the mark up on each item was < 100% and she inferred that they don't really do discounts. That could have been acceptable except for the fact that they had a big SALE sign outside the shop screaming "20% off selected items".
Lesson learnt .....we won't be back!
