Mostly unpaved, this road travels between Cripple Creek and Canon City and promises outstanding views.
Not for the faint of heart but my oh my the views. hard packed dirt road with rock wall one one side and a steep drop off of the other side. Narrow, at times only one car wide. If you have the nerve, it is certainly worth the drive. I never got above 10 MPH.

I highly recommend that you make this your first stop in Cripple Creek. There is a great museum that gives a thorough history of Cripple Creek and the gold rush. The upper floor has fossils and a stegosaurus model, so kids would love that. The person at the desk was friendly and SO helpful. She recommended activities that she thought we would enjoy based on our interests and marked them out on a map. And this is all free!

We got to drive on this road after church on Sunday. It was very scenic but it's very narrow, which is one of the only drawbacks. Nice to go on if you have a couple hours.

We love the hotel upstairs of Casino. Rm 123 is our favorite. The Steakhouse is fabulous. The restaurant in the casino is good too, but not as good as the Steakhouse. The staff recognizes us now and we never have trouble getting drinks while gambling. The slots usually pay enough for us to play and have fun, We go a couple times a week. The Ice Sculptures and Ice Slide is still standing in the rd. Heated smoking area with benches on the street. Great for people watching.

We try to stop and stay here every time we travel through Colorado; I love the charm of this town. There is a museum and a train. Donkeys roam the streets. The street is lined with casinos in historic buildings and we always find machines that are willing to play with us. If you get a chance visit Victor which is 6 miles away; another very cool historic gold mining town.

My cousin won $80 on a slot machine in five minutes. Nice. Played blackjack and we were both up quite a bit and finally walked away up $10 each there. I like it especially with a $2 Tuesday blackjack table. I will definitely come back here.

Very entertaining! Great selection of slots, video poker and table games. You can get an adult beverage if you ask at the bar but no servers working the floor that I saw. Guess we should have asked sooner! Loved the free parking garage!

Truly enjoyed the atmosphere at the Christmas Casino! The decorations are very tasteful and the music is a good mix of old and new radio hits as well as Christmas music. My wife and I stayed at the Imperial Hotel before it was reopened as the Christmas Inn. Clean, comfortable rooms and absolutely oozes the history of Cripple Creek!
