Arigna Mining Experience

Reviewed By Meganmccarthy1705

Visited the mine on a recent breakaway in Carrick on Shannon. Such a worthwhile experience and would definitely recommend a visit. The staff are such lovely welcoming people and Maurice gave a fantastic tour of the mine providing lots of interesting information as well as first hand accounts of his own mining work. Amazing to see the conditions that people endured. The views from outside the experience are breathtaking but can be viewed from the fabulous coffee shop inside also. Really enjoyed ourselves!

King House

King House is a beautifully restored Georgian mansion situated in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. First built in 1730 as the seat of the King family, a powerful local landowning dynasty, the house later became a military barracks and recruiting depot for the famous Irish regiment of the British army, the Connaught Rangers. The house is now open to the public as a museum dedicated to bringing its history to life. The house is also an art gallery housing the Boyle Civic Art Collection, the third largest public collection in Ireland. We look forward to your visit!

Gaelic Chieftain Sculpture

Reviewed By Bozeman-Dublin - Trim, Ireland

I try to pull in here whenever I am in the Boyle/Sligo area as there are cracking views of Lough Key and the surrounding area not to mention this being a lovely statue in itself. Pulled in today with friends and they had never been before. They lived it as I do. Big car park and plenty of benches to sit on, chat, eat if you want to and just admire the views.

I sure hope Sean gets to keep his castle its lovely. I read an article that looked as if he was going to loose it, but it was withdraw from the auction what a relief. He has put his heart and work into this castle and deserves to keep it. Hopefully he can simplify his needs over his wants to get through this and make it how he wants it in time little by little. already as it is it has been his lifetime hearts plan.
