Checkpoint Charlie is a unique gift and souvenir shop in the city centre. We stock bespoke, Derry gifts that have been designed exclusively for our store. Checkpoint Charlie is not like any other gift shop; a visit to the store will give you a feel for the political and social history of the city, over its troubled years. Visitors also get a ‘Free Derry’ Passport stamp – just for the craic!
Went into this small shop during my visit to Derry. I found this shop absolutely fantastic and it certainly has a great variety of Derry and Irish themed gifts and souvenirs on sale which reflect on the troubled past that the city was historically known for and how it’s shaped the city as it is today. The lady that was working in the shop was an absolute joy to chat with, she was very interested in my reasons for visiting the city and spoke of her own experiences during the troubles and spoke a little on the history of Derry too. If you’re in Derry then Checkpoint Charlie is certainly worth a visit.
