Brilliant Sculpture in metal of WW1 Soldier Tommy and the Parking Area Barrier Rail Fence has more Memories of those that served in the conflict. All overlooking the Sea with plenty of Parking and opposite the famous award winning Clean Bean Restaurant which has plenty of choice on the Menu or just a Coffee or Brew if that's what you are after - Plenty of other stuff to do over a few hours in Seaham.

The Durham Light Infantry Memorial is a nicely presented great looking statue in a well deserved prominent location outside the Town Hall. A fitting tribute to the many service men who fought and died for our country. You won't spend a whole lot of time here at eh statue, but a few minutes at the statue is all that is needed to remind us all of the sacrifice.

Moving to see all the poppies and wooden crosses displaying the names of those loved and lost, the area is surrounded by benches depicting images of poppies, silhouettes of soldiers, with such a fabulous view of the coast.

I love the market place and alway stand and study this statue. It’s great to see so many folk taking pictures, they are mostly overseas visitors who I’m sure will show their friends and family who will be encouraged to visit our City and County Durham which will bring in revenue for us xx

The Durham Market Square with its’s majestic statues, the cutest Market Hall selling everything under a roof, many decent eating places around... WHSmith with its classic stationery, the Barclays and HSBC Banks around, an Euro exchange travel bureau just a stones throw away... You have it all.... It is the heart of Durham with the pulse that is almost tangible... In the last ten days of my stay in Durham, whenever I would come towards the city, I would invariably sit in one of the benches in the Market Square and spend my time watching all the activities taking place... It looked to be the meeting point of many people... Students studying in Durham University would come to the Market Hall, some would grab a bite sitting on one of the benches... People would come along with their dogs and walk them around... A group of kindergarten students had come for a tour of the Market Hall and later they sprawled out in the Market Square making sketches of what they had seen... It is pure joy watching the hum-drum activities that constantly go on in the Market Square...

A very interesting sculpture depicting the iconic Mallard leaving a tunnel with steam billowing from the engine. It's a fitting tribute to Darlington's railway heritage especially as it is close to the origin railway line.

A striking statue, which will/should encourage folk to look into the history of our area. I can remember when this was commissioned and placed in Millennium Square, people where complaining about it (during the planning permission stage) thank God it was approved, I think it’s fantastic, go see it and enjoy the other facilities in the square x

A lovely statue of a heron, situated by the river, on Freeman's Place, in Durham. lovely during the day, and lights up at night. Well worth a visit.

This is a prominent statue in the market place however most people don't give it a second chance which is a shame as Mr Pease was an interesting and important historical character in particular he campaigned for the abolition of slavery.
