Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

Proper Cornish still cider made the tradtional way by Tom Bray at Haywood Farm St Mabyn
We arrived just after opening on 17/6/19 to a very unorganized yard which was unusual. We visit these premises each time we come to Cornwall possible more than once as hubby really likes their dry cider and I their apple juice. Tom was explaining the chaos as they had had a go-karting festival day before with 400 people looked a d sounded as though a great time had been had by all. Well done Haywood's.

Searching for a safe activity to do outdoors within a few miles of home, we decided that fruit picking was perfect. Fresh air, a bit of exercise and very Covid-safe. We only saw one other family. Our tip would be to choose a less popular fruit such as currants of berries, everyone seems to go for strawberries. It's a beautifully kept farm with lots of colourful flower borders as well as the polytunnels and fields of fruit. A great afternoon activity, and healthy too.

Roskilly’s are based at Tregellast Barton Farm on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. We are a family run business milking 125 Jersey cows. Our small pastures have been farmed in a traditional and sustainable way for generations, and we have always farmed without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilizers. All of our delicious ice creams and hand crafted fudges are made using rich organic Jersey milk and cream from our own herd of Jersey cows. We also produce a range of jams and chutneys using old family recipes that have been handed down the generations. Our Farm and Café, the Croust House, is open all year round serving meals every day from breakfast, fresh salads to clay oven baked pizzas’ and American style smoked meats (summer months only). You can visit and feed all the farm animals: calves, pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, geese & ducks. You can also go for a stroll around the ponds and withy woods and watch the milking at 10.00am
You get to see a working farm, watch milking and sample the product in the firm of ice cream- what more can you ask for! Chickens? Geese? Turkeys? Goats? Pigs? Yes they have them too and a lovely walk (bring wellies if it’s been raining!)

Had a fabulous afternoon at Polgoon. Very welcoming and fun host, very knowledgeable about the wine making process and we just loved that it’s a family run business. Wine was amazing, and the fact that it’s all locally grown / sourced made it even more enjoyable. The tasting was informative and plenty of wine to taste. We had our dog with us who was also made very welcome. A brilliant place to visit if you’re in Cornwall.

This was my second visit to Cornish Orchards having first visited in 2017. SInce my first visit, this has become one of my favourite ciders and so whilst in Cornwall for a short break, I simply had to stock up on essential supplies. the shop is relatively small, but is fully stocked with all of the ciders, apple juices etc. produced at the orchard. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and whist only two members of the same household were allowed in the shop at a time, there was no rush to get you out. Cornish Orchards cider is also available online and I've had a couple of orders in the past.

Booked in for the Grand Walking Tour, one of the most interesting tours and tastings that we have been on. Liz was super engaging, telling us the history of how her and Engin arrived in Cornwall and built Trevibban into what is it today as we wandered round the vineyard. We then went inside to sample the wines with sharing platters of bread and hummus, meats and cheeses. Great value for money, we just didn't want to leave. Liz very kindly reserved a table on the terrace where we enjoyed another bottle of wine in the sunshine. We have previously just visited for a drink which I would also recommend, there are plenty of tables both inside and outside. If you don't have a designated driver, book a taxi, it's a great place for a relaxing drink.
