One of Georgia’s true treasures, Georgia Veteran’s State Park was established in 1946 as a memorial to U.S. veterans. This beautiful 1,308 acre park pays tribute to veterans from the Revolutionary War through the present day. The Park operates under the theme, “Serve the Living: Honor our Heroic Dead. Easily accessible from I-75 (via Exit 101 and west on Highway 280) in Cordele, GA, the park features the picture-perfect Lake Blackshear, an array of recreational activities and its signature Military Museum with engaging indoor exhibits, as well as outdoor static displays including: a B-29A Superfortress, jets, a helicopter, tanks, landing craft and artillery. Refresh your spirit with a walk on the four miles of nature trails, or gather the family and enjoy a lakeside picnic and a swim from the sandy beach. The classic Southern lake is also perfect for fishing and boating, while the 18-hole Denis Griffith’s designed course provides golfers with a challenging day.
The fish were jumping the moment we entered the park. Lots of people were fishing (and catching)! There are many gorgeous places to go on the lake. The golf club and resort are also nice--even though we were just here for a conference!

This was a great stop off the highway. It was fun sampling some things we were interested in buying but it wasn't until we returned home that we realized how good everything is. We bought many different types of nuts, banana chips, granola cereal; even gherkins and it was all great!

This was a cute little trip. My husband's family decided to go on this little excursion, and I really did enjoy myself. The snacks on the train were good, and walking around former President Jimmy Carter's boy hood home was truly an experience. I would remmomend to anyone.

The worst place ever!!! Booked a romantic night for 2 with the dinner and breakfast included. Picked the early check in option and when I called to confirm I was told they do not offer early check in. Arrived to check in and was told my villa was given to a wedding party. Was given a room in the lodge where I had 2 small beds instead of a king. The manager didn't even want to accommodate us for our long trip and paying $275 for ONE night. Room was HORRIBLE. Had to deal with the wedding party running, yelling and partying up and down the halls until 4 am. Front desk refused to answer when I called to complain. Man in room next to me snored so loud I heard it all night, even over my tv. The dinner was awesome, even given complimentary drinks. Breakfast was not so good. When I checked out I asked for a manager and to no surprise he was not available. Was told I can get a refund for the room rate but charged $100 for my food and the complimentary drinks...which was part of the package I reserved. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I will pitch a tent on the ground next time, at least then my husband and I can sleep together.

I have attended Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway the past 3 years & it has been a blast every time! Fans have the opportunity to get up close & personal with drivers during pre-race activities, getting autographs & taking pictures. If you are a race fan you will love the racing action at the Melon!

I was on my way home from vacation and I wanted to stop and find some fresh peas. We stopped in Cordele, where my pea dreams came true, I got a bag of mixed peas, clean, unmashed and trash free. Saw beautiful tomatoes of all sizes, peaches and watermelons, but my eye was on the fellow with the peas. Smith Farms is all I know at this point, but he said they would have peas until late fall. I may go back.

This happens to be one of the oldest USPS Post Offices that is still exist. They offer shipping of all kinds like slow boat, Priority mail and Express. The staff is very nice and friendly and the Post Office is very convenient to get to with plenty of parking!
