What a lovely promenade this is for sure. It’s good flat walking with a lovely view of the beach and the sea, plus some interesting information on some flagstones. Nice cafés too. Great way to spend a sunny Sunday.

The section of coastal path connecting Llandudno and Conwy via Deganwy is very scenic and a very pleasant way to get between the two towns and offers plenty of photo opportunities along its route. It’s a walk of about four miles but they are four very flat miles so you don’t need to be an experienced hiker to complete it. If there is a challenging section it’s the bit between Deganwy and Llandudno’s West Shore. This section has sand dunes on one side and a very sandy beach on the other which means the path is often buried under sand drifts. Bizarrely it can sometimes be easier to walk along the beach on this section as the tide compacts the sand down below the tide line whereas the sand on the path stays dry and loose and can be difficult to walk through. It’s not really a long or challenging enough walk to need to worry about taking supplies but there is a beach cafe just north of Deganwy (it only has outdoor seating so is far more attractive on sunny days) and there are also a couple of cafes in the centre of Deganwy just opposite the railway station. If it’s a hot day it might be worth carrying a bottle of water or two because, at the time of this review at least, there is no convenience shop or newsagent in the centre of Deganwy from which to buy snacks and drinks from. There is a Co-op but it’s some way from the coastal path. I should point out I’m mentioning Deganwy as it’s the half way point so if you’re planning on stopping for a break it’s the obvious place to stay. The number 5 bus runs regularly between Llandudno and Conwy so if the return walk sounds like four miles too far then you won’t have too long to wait for a bus.

Great little town with individual and unique shops and eateries. Fabulous walk along waterside path to Conwy or in opposite direction to West shore or even Llandudno! always a train or bus back to Deganwy if you don't fancy the return walk. Great beach between Deganwy and West shore. Fab scenery and views across the estuary. Spent many happy holidays here as a kid, staying at my grandparents in Llandudno Junction.
