This Family Run homestead farm is located one mile from downtown Madison and its beaches. The mission of this farm is to promote education and awareness of local sourcing of foods and sustainability. The farm property expands over 13 acres and two historic home properties that have been preserved and converted back into original farmland by the current owners. The grounds are home to beef cattle, dairy cattle, dairy goats, Shetland and Hampshire sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and one very lovable donkey. Farm Education for all ages comes in many different ways here on this farm: culinary classes for children and adults, farm tours, volunteer opportunities, farm stay program for families looking to vacation on a working farm, children's camps and school session programs, and field to table dining. All events are open to the public with various costs. The website is current with events and pricing. There is also barn stall and outdoor paddock rental available for horses, as well as a four season indoor riding arena. This is certainly a historic gem not to be overlooked.

I've visited the Silo many times. It's 2 minutes from downtown Sherman and let's to step back a moment as you enter the farm and its old barn to be surprised with a state-of-the-art tasting room and art gallery. A couple of times a year we go to meet the artists which is always a delight along with tasting some of their new wine parings. On a nice days, enjoying their outside tables and a pitcher of Sangria can really set the mood! Just a nice stop when your 90 minutes north of the city.

Buttonwood Farms produces premium, farm-fresh ice cream on our scenic family farm. Our waffle cones and homemade whipped cream are made fresh daily! Our Sunflowers for Wishes festival and fundraiser to benefit Make-A-Wish will take place July 22-30. During weekends in the fall (September 17 - October 30) visit our 7 acre corn maze, pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and family-friendly attractions.
I am a local resident that lives not too far away from buttonwood ice cream farm. The quality of their ice cream and the flavors are top notch. If you were ever nearby this gem located in Griswold Connecticut it’s a must stop pace.
