I so enjoy visits, and on occasion attending services at churches when I travel. Concepción de Ataco is a beautiful colonial town in western El Salvador, the heart of coffee country. Iglesia Inmaculada Concepcion De Maria Ataco is a beautiful building, with a gorgeous interior at the center of Concepción de Ataco. I'm here often for business and always enjoy spending time in the plaza overlooking this church.

If you walk through the store you will find the most interesting aspect of the project; there are several hand looms set up, and even although it was Sunday, there were a couple of weavers at work. The store out front is full of colourful displays of artisan works and souvenir items. A great stop for someone with an empty suitcase and a full wallet! If you are not into shopping there is a great little cafe with access to the same courtyard and Seating area.

The pools are great with different temperatures to relax you. The rooms are nice with excellent bathroom. The restaraunts are on the pricy side but if you order a 1lb burger it is big enough for two to share. Overall we enjoyed our stay. There are lights at night by the pools so you can keep on soaking.

We hired a tuk-tuk to take us up to the view - cost $2 a person one-way - the view is okay, but I wouldn't do the hike to see it unless you just want to hike. It looks like there may be switchbacks from the back of the church as a short-cut.

This was a highly recommended event while I was visiting Juayua as part of my second weekend getaway from San Salvador. The town food fest happens rain or shine every Saturday and Sunday. It is the perfect place to sample Salvadorean foods in variety and it doesn't cost much at all. The average plate cost $3 and comes with meat, veggies and rice. The fair last from 10am til 5pm. It is great to say I have experienced real Salvadorean culture. I hope you have a positive experience also. Happy Travels!!!!!
