Colville National Forest covers a lot of northeastern Washington, but we mainly explored the area near Colville and the northern part of Lake Roosevelt. I'll just give some of the main highlights or else this could be a more extensive review than it will probably will be already. If you're looking for Lake Roosevelt access, some of the best areas are Bradbury Beach, Old Kettle Falls, Marcus Island, Snag Cove, and even the city park in Northport has a beautiful spot. If you're looking for smaller lakes, Deep Lake and Pierre Lake are lovely escapes. If you like waterfalls, Crystal Falls and Douglas Falls are small, but in pretty settings. The Sherman Pass Scenic Byway goes through the forest as well. There are quite a few short stops along the way that are fascinating. The Log Plume Trail, Camp Growden, Sherman Pass Overlook and Summit, and the White Mountain Lookout are all worthwhile stops. I could go on and on about this area. There is a lot more to explore and definitely worth coming back to. This is a part of Washington that is usually forgotten, but should not be missed.
