A trip into the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge is well worth your time. Whether you decide to delve deeply into the park in search of bears, deer, waterfowl or any other of the myriad wildlife residing there, wandering/hiking or walking the trails or boardwalks or enjoying any of the other aspects available, you owe it to yourself to experience this beautiful area.

If perhaps you're having a difficult time finding true Southern hospitality these days, then you've likely never stopped by the Tyrrell County Visitors Center. Nicest and most knowledgeable ladies I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. An extensive collection of brochures, maps, and booklets on local, regional, and statewide attractions - all complimentary. Also a small, but well-appointed gift shop with a good selection of pottery from a regional artisan. You'll also want to reserve a few minutes for a stroll on the boardwalk along the scenic Scuppernong River. If you're lucky, you might even spot a few river otters, a bobcat, a bear, or even the resident alligator!

Located just a short drive from the Outer Banks beaches! Pocosin Arts' focus is on craft education. We offer workshops year around in a variety of media including clay, metals, fibers, mixed media, wood, painting, drawing and more. Our studios and lodge are located by the unspoiled beauty of the Scuppernong River and Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Our location provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and small-town hospitality. It is a great place to learn something new, meet new friends, hike, kayak and be inspired.
