I lived in College Park my whole life and never knew this was there. I took my five grand children ages 8 to 14 they all loved it. I enjoy learning about the history of avition over 200 years ago. They have all the displays of the way it was to be a pilot. They had so many display for interaction. All my grandkids loved it we stay for over an hour. They have so many old air planes hanging over your head and a platform to see them close. The kids thought that was so fun. I intend to take my husband back because I enjoyed it so much.

Lake Artemesia located in Berwyn Heights, Maryland near the University of Maryland, College Park, and Greenbelt is an ideal quiet 'Walden Pond' for walking, family time, kid fishing, bird watching, biking, and reflecting. The 38 acres of the lake area is an ideal public 'natural area' (it really was developed for park purposes.) It is open from sunrise to sunset throughout the year and is administered by the Prince Georges County (Maryland) Department of Parks and Recreation. If you choose to take a delightful walk around the lake and include the inner loop between the ponds it will cover 2 miles of a paved walkway. There is an availability of increasing or decreasing the distance depending on the choices of alternate paths. It is highly popular, especially in the Spring through the Fall period. Strollers, runners and bikers (bicycle) frequent the area. No autos are permitted. I often bike ride along the Indian Creek Trail / Anacostia Tributary / North-East Branch Trail which runs adjacent to the lake and I make a detour to the lake trails for a pleasant circumferential ride around the lake before continuing on. If you are looking for a pleasant nature getaway, Lake Artemesia is a good choice. There is a small parking lot at the outskirts of the park entrance but some of my friends who have parked their cars there have had them broken into and items were taken. I personally park in nearby neighborhoods with my bike to access the lake park and the close by bike and walking trails.
