Uplift Adventures

Uplift Adventures is a small business homegrown in Crowsnest Pass. We mainly operate in the South Canadian Rockies, more specifically Waterton, Castle Parks, and Crowsnest Pass offering interpretive walks, day hiking trips, multiday backpacking trip, ice walks, and snowshoeing trips. While we offer several services that are bookable online, Uplift Adventures also works closely with schools to provide curriculum-based programs and mentorship experience. In addition, we consultant on trail planning and mapping, interpretive programs, and environmental work. Our dream at Uplift Adventures is to create outdoor experiences and knowledge for people to feel confident and connected to the outdoors. We value building an outdoor community to include all types of people. And our ultimate dream is to create Conservation Tourism to rebuild some of the damaged landscapes from historical mining, exploration, and neglected trail use in the Canadian Rockies.

Allison Lake Cross Country Ski Trails

Reviewed By BenLar137 - Calgary, Canada

Some great cross-county ski venues are quite a drive from anywhere, not here. We appreciated the highway sign, but then had to figure out a little which road to take, as we didn't notice further explicit "cross-country ski" signs. They have a good grooming and track-setting operation, and appear to be able to host a variety of related events. We enjoyed our visit very much. There was some figuring out to do related the many on-site maps (excellent they have so many!), as some links on the map didn't seem to be there. The website is helpful, but you need a good memory to figure out which trails are not maintained because they allow dog-walking. And some of the trails we thought, from the website, would have been track-set weren't, but there were still lots that were. All-in-all, a great place, and kudos to Coleman for having such a high quality facility!

My wife and I very much enjoyed this as part of our trip. The museum contains a number of artifacts from up to 130 years ago. The exhibits include day to day life, wedding dresses of different periods, mining equipment and work life, dental equipment, medical equipment, a blacksmith shop exhibit and a household artifacts exhibit. There is a lot to see and experience here. The two staff were very helpful and came to look at a discrepancy I spotted in one of the exhibits. Given the cost was only $16 for the two of us, excellent value for money.

The APP Barracks is the location of the murder of Constable Steven Lawson by Emilio Picariello and Florence 'Filumena' Losandro. Explore the 'Scene of the Crime' where Lawson lived, worked and was killed. Journey through Alberta's prohibition history, and decide for yourself "who done it" at the scene of Canada's most infamous rum running murder. Entrance to the Barracks includes entry to the Crowsnest Museum

We visited this exhibit as part of our Crowsnest Museum tour. It is in a separate building a short walk from the main museum. It goes into great detail about the history of the APP and the loss of one of its officers in 1922. Very well organized and detailed. Very clean building. Paul was the volunteer that assisted us and was most helpful. If you are interested in the police history of the APP, this is a must see!!

For all asking where this is, if one googles Flumerfelt Park in Coleman it’ll take you right there. We quite enjoyed ourselves on the hike up to the falls. Was a great hike for our little family (kids all under age 8) and just a lovely outing overall.

Chinook Lake Campground

Reviewed By KellyNagle

We enjoyed our 3 nights at Chinook because: -our forest site was quite private (view photos online to choose one you prefer) -the lake is scenic and good for paddling (no motors) -trail around the lake is nice and you can stop at one of the mini beaches and go for a dip away from the busy day use area (water is cold but not freezing) -water is clear -moose came to drink from the lake in the evening and a deer was foraging up on the banks -waterfall is one of the nicest we’ve seen (very cold to swim in) -dogs allowed on lake trail -lots of trailers in the lakeside sites despite the steep entrance hill. Bring a good truck to get back out!
