The Cleveland Museum of Art was founded in 1913 "for the benefit of all the people forever." Renowned for the quality and breadth of its collection, the museum includes almost 45,000 objects and spans 6,000 years of achievement in the arts. The museum is a significant international forum for exhibitions, scholarship, performing arts and art education and recently completed an ambitious, multi-phase renovation and expansion project across its campus. One of the top comprehensive art museums in the nation and free of charge to all, the Cleveland Museum of Art is located in the dynamic University Circle neighborhood.
This museum is a gem for the city of Cleveland. We had to drive quite a bit to get here, but it was worth it. Well curated, interesting pieces, and a great breadth of art. We arrived just after the museum had opened and stayed, with a break for lunch, until closing, and it was not enough.

Hop on a bicycle, lace up your running shoes or take your time strolling through any part of this scenic 60-mile long string of parks and garden areas.
There are multiple reservations/nature centers that make up the 'Emerald Necklace'. Each one is in a unique setting. It is truly a gem of Ohio- other states aren't as fortunate to have anything like this. If you have free time, I really recommend getting involved with one of their volunteer programs- great for high school students and adults of all ages.

Growing up in the Cleveland area, I had never been here until last summer when we went for a hike with my in-laws. My kids absolutely have a blast walking the main path and exploring everything around them. This year we didn't see many animals other then bird, but last year we saw tons of deer. The main path itself is very clear and well maintained. By far my kids love the nature center the most. The tree play area they have is amazing. There are so many wonderful details and my kids have a blast playing on it. It's also great to see the turtles and fish they have in the tanks. We always seem to get lucky and the turtles seem to be out swimming every time we are there. This is a great little area to explore when you are in the area.

Tour the submarine responsible for the sinking of nearly 30,000 tons of Japanese ships during WWII.
The submarine is available to view in its natural state. That means you climb a narrow ladder through a small tube to get on and off the ship. As expected, the interior of the sub is tight but maneuverable. It is amazing that they could fit a crew of almost 100 men on board. Ingenuity abounds in such restricted quarters, and you could see where submariners invented things and processes to improve life under the seas.

Cleveland Indians ballpark seats more than 43,000 people and features three levels of suites and a large-tiered stadium club.
Recently updated electronics throughout the facility. Food and beverage vendors finally amchored in appropiate positions. Great sightlines for viewing all the action on the field. More than adequate customer service. Good security. Ample parking (for an urban stadium).

Playhouse Square Center is the nation's largest performing arts complex outside of New York City. Located in the heart of Cleveland's Theater District, Playhouse Square serves as host to over 1.1 million guests annually and offers the best of Broadway, dance, concerts, family shows, comedians, plays and more.
The Playhouse theaters have been renovated over the past several years, and this renovation and restoration of the original design is amazing! I love the level of detail put into the original ceilings, lighting, wall finishes, artwork and murals... some of it still original from what they could restore. Amazing staff and leadership of this Playhouse Foundation as well, just really great team with a passion for the community and the arts. Look forward to coming back again later this year for a show!

Built in 1912, this thriving public market offers fresh produce, meat, dairy products and a delicious variety of prepared foods.
The West Side Market is a true gem. The architecture is impressive, the food booths are great, offering all kinds of things that you wouldn't find in a typical grocery. The experience is true old world urban. Bakery, fresh meats, produce, fish, and lots of other long time vendors offer a plethora of very tempting foods. Just walking around and taking in the atmosphere is worth the trip. If you can take the RTA Red line train to avoid parking hassles and to save money. Station is literally across the street.
